Some wonderful tributes here. Smile
I lit three candles: a yellow one for the brightness Steve carried, a red one for his passion, and a white one for purity and the genuineness of his person. I sat outside, under the trees and stars, and after awhile began to feel better.
Thanks. I'll try to be here for Feb. 22, too!

Condolences from the heart; last night and forever..
The Candle lighting was for for Steve. It was for Terri. It was for his children. It was for those he left behind. It was whoever you felt strongly about lighting a candle for.

I lit a candle and prayed for those who love him. Including all of you. In doing that I feel better because I finally DID something proactive to help them. That's where a lot of people are coming from. Everyone needs something proactive to do to get in touch with this man and his family.

I hope that if Terri or her family read my notes they wouldn't think I was being selfish in saying I felt better. The saddness will "nevah" go away in losing one of our greatest warriors on the face of this planet. But in loss, we gained an army of warriors.

I shall keep praying and spiritually hugging Terri, her Children, and his Dad.

It's nevah too late to light a candle, and say a prayer for his loved ones, (including his wildlife).. or spiritually hug them, -"Evah."

I wish I'd had this song before I lit my candle.

I imagine in the background of this webpage to be the thousands of candles lit for Steve -
Go Light Your World:

For those of you who missed out on the vigil..
pull up this webpage and light a candle for Steve. It's never too late. Let us know when you do light a candle.. keep the fire going.

Thank you for sharing Jody

Your welcome.
I am not a gung ho christian music listener, but Chris Rice sings and amazing version of "Go Light Your World" He also sings another beautiful song I heard that Monday we found out he died...not even an hour later. I burst into tears hearing it. Its Called "Breakfast Table" also sung by Chris Rice. If you ever get the chance to listen to it, do. Its about a guy who has a few things to say after his death. Like saying all the things he wished he could have, to comfort those who were left behind. like, not to worry, I have gone on before you, but I have saved a spot at my breakfast table for you...its absolutely beautiful. I look at it like he was talkign to us, but mostly to his family. I think I may actually buy my first christian Cd, simply because Chris Rice is lovely to listen to....

Steve was definitly a brightly burning candle and his spirit and fire will always live within me. May we all strive and teach our future generations to be as beautiful as he was.

At about 9:25 pm EDT, I went out on my front porch and lit 3 candles for Steve, Terri and the kids, and Steve's other loved ones. The crickets were singing, but otherwise it was quiet. I said the "Canticle of Remembrance" for Steve. Then I sang for him: "The Song of Promise" and "Amazing Grace" (all the way through). Then I prayed, claiming for him the blessings due to one who uses his gifts and his life to the benefit of those who are unloved and less fortunate (yes, it applies to animals, too), for Steve was a care-taker and a protector and lived his life in the most incredible love and joyful compassion! Then I said the blessing prayer, "The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face to shine upon you and give you peace. God bless Steven Robert Irwin."

Come light your world with us tonight. Come pray for Terri .. for her children. She needs
strength and love..

To Terri-
My Sister-friend I love you. I am with you and will accompany you spiritually today. Our love surrounds you dear one. No need to say anything at the memorial. May the camera's find someone else's face to photograph. Your pain is NOT for public display.

I held my own little firelight rememberance for Steve, just me and my two dogs around a campfire. The stars were shining and I could here the sounds of wildlife all around. For sometime I just sat by the fire looking up to the stars thinking about the wonderful influence my family has felt from Steve and his family. I will never forget the absolute joy he shared with all of us, I can't help it, I am still crying at his loss.
Thank you everyone for sharing this forum.
God bless the Irwin family.

I have posted this in a few threads as I want all to know how much these women have touched my heart with their ways. For those who have read it before I apologize for the repeating of this, but I want others to know how indebted I am to soxnblaze, cbtree and kespa for always being there for us, helping us and supporting us.

I am half Native American Cherokee and believe strongly in my heritage. I also believe just as strongly, that Steve, The Wildlife Warrior, is with Grandfather "Great Spirit". For Steve has walked the "Good Red Path" as many of my ancestors before him had. Lyn (soxnblaze), Cheryl (cbtree) and kespa you all have hearts of a Warrior as well. You have drawn this band of people here together, helped us carry on when at times we couldn't see the sense of why the world had lost such a valuable asset. You have earned this woman’s respect for your ways and may you know that you will forever be in my thoughts and prayers.

Terri, Bindi, Young Bob, Steve's Father Bob, John, Wes and all of Steve's extended Family and Mates, to Lyn, Cheryl (cbtree), kespa and all of those whose have drawn closer together over the last couple of weeks, in this time of sorrow. We have shared our words of sorrow and comfort with each other; let this bond continue to grow by Crikey. May we all forever keep in touch, carry on Steve's dreams and keep in our hearts the knowledge that Steve was loved and will be missed by all those his zeal for life affected by his words and by his actions.

My Prayer
My Ancestor's of long ago,
hear my prayer,
and let us know,
that our Warrior Steve,
is safe within your lair.

For this I believe,
but continue to weep,
this passing before his time,
his circle of life incomplete,
a man still in his prime.

his love had no bounds,
as visions flash before tear filled eyes,
his love of Mother Earth's precious gifts,
his zeal went beyond the skies,
just as the wind uplifts.

hear my prayer,
Grandfather keep us strong to survive,
his memory engraved within our hearts,
so that we may thrive,
to pass on that which he starts.

with his wisdom,
this spirit journey he took us on,
never to be forgotten,
it will forever carry-on,
nor ever be misbegotten.

Stephen Robert Irwin,
he walked with honor,
and so shall we,
he was our donor,
Grandfather hear our plea.

we ask that there might be peace,
for our Souls to mend,
and that his ways never cease
for he was the world's, unalii (friend).
Do'dagag'hvi (until we see each other again)

E me nv (Amen)

We have shed countless tears, and must go on. As Steve’s Dad said, we must not continue to grieve for Steve, for he is in a safe place. We must carry on Steve’s life long goal with actions, not just with words, for those who can, donate to Steve’s causes and those that can’t, volunteer at a local zoo, vet or animal protection society, be one of Steve’s Warriors and fight for a better world where animals are treated with compassion and protected by our society.

To his family, friends and everyone who's life and hearts he has touched...Tohidu (good peace)
