Having just watched a segment here on AP by Steve, brought the tears back. Who knew I could still be so sad. As with many people, I still find it not only heartbreaking, but mind blowing. Almost 3 weeks ago now, when asked why I was crying about Steve's death by an acquaintance at work, "did you know him?" "Of course I did! He was a guest in my living room on a regular basis," I answered.

Now here today I still feel the same sadness as if it were only yesterday on learning of his death.

There is a scene in the Fellowship of the Ring, after the passing of the great wizard Gandalf, when the remaining members of the fellowship are resting and recovering their loss. Boromir says to Legolas upon hearing the elven song, "What is that?" Legolas answers, "It is a lament to Gandalf." Boromir replies, "What is it saying?" And Legolas, "I cannot say, for to me the grief is still too near." How apropos. I wish I could sing such a beautiful song in lament for Steve Irwin.

My second wish is that Terri takes up Steve's sword in the fight against human ignorance and apathy for our planet's animals. My final wish is that one day, through her (and of course Bindi Sue's and Joe's) continuation of Steve's passion, that the world will be safe for ALL living creatures to live in harmony.

To think I almost sent money to PETA (thank goodness I didn't, based on their latest poorly thought-out slurs to the greatest champion for wildlife our world has ever known).

I thank God for showing us the way through his angel Steve Irwin.
