I would like to express my deepest and most profound sympathies to Terry, her children, and all of Steve's family. Though my family and I may live thousands of miles across the ocean, Steve touched our lives as if we were his 'mates' as well. Steve had such an energy and power of character that one could not help but love him. His love of life and passion for the things he cared about just touched the heart of anyone who watched him. He was and is an ispiration to us all.
My wife and I dreamed and still do, of traveling to Australia one day to visit the zoo that Steve made famous the world over. Though our dream of meeting our hero in person may no longer be possible, we would still love to see the place we have grown to love through him.
My family and I watched the memorial service last night and we cried with the rest of the world at the loss of one of our worlds true heros. Few people can touch an entire generation the way Steve did, and his legacy will surely continue through those he touched so deeply. His pssion will become ours, and he will live on through us all.
We will miss him dearly. Our hero, our fiend, our mate. Good on ya'
With all our love, Mark, Josey and Arwen (our 5 month old daughter)
