Crikey Jami! That's an incredible story. I'll bet that snake was quite a ripper and I know he was a beauty! Because of your help, I'm sure that little beauty had no worries. Make sure you make that dream of yours a reality and become a true wildlife warrior just like SteveO. And remember, CROCS RULE!!!

I started watching his show when I was 6. I'm 15 now! And your right, he taught us alot. He took my childhood facination and turned it into a dream. I hardly missed a show. I was half alseep when my mom told me what happened. Now ever since then, I've been gathering every news clipping about him.
He was my Hero. and he always will be.
And your right,

Steve made a good impact on my life. It goes beyond the entertainment that I enjoyed so much. Quite often for the past few years, I have found myself performing dialect of Steve’s shows, of course with the accent. I do have to say he was and still is my favorite TV character of all time. I have bread captive reptiles and studied herpetology for the caring of my breeders. I have a great respect for reptiles of all kinds. I no longer keep reptiles but my love for them is still great. It is devastating to me to see someone abuse or destroy these creatures for pleasure or even out of fear. Steve helped people understand replies on a different level and learn how to coexist with them. Steve was a great credit to humanity and our planet. He worked so hard at a job that he loved so much; I bet many of us wished we were in his shoes. He so often put his life in danger to protect reptiles, not something for the average bloat, but a great example of capabilities of humanity. He has made more people aware of wildlife preservation than any other human. He has also brought awareness that there are still genuine people out there that have great family values. He was a great role model for people of all ages. I believe he should be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. I take my hat off to this guy as I pay my respects to him and his family. Thanks for all the good times Steve! You will be remembered.

My nine year old son has been touched so much by Steve. My son loves watching him everytime the show is on. Just like Steve, my son loves animals and one day he wants to grow up and be just like him. When I told him the news he broke down and cried, he said Mom, I didn't get to go to the Australian Zoo to visit him and see him in person. He wanted to so bad and now we just have to remember him as such a dedicated and loyal man to animals everwhere. We will never forget him and I know my son never will either. My son even has a Croc shirt he wears and he has such a huge collection of animals . Our hearts go out to Terri, Bindi, and Bob and his Dad. We will never forget such a great wildlife conservationist like him. He will be in our thoughts for years to come and remembered forever.

I grew up in an area/culture, where it's thought of as foolish to care for animals and/or the environment. I was always thought of as silly because I had a hard time being thoughtless or cruel to animals. When I was young, before I knew *better*, I wanted to work with animals, to protect them in some way.

I grew up, and am a software engineer. One day, when I was in my early twenties, shortly after I obtained my tv cable for the first time, I was flipping channels and saw this crazy guy in khaki shorts, waving a snake around, talking really loud with a funny accent. I thought it was a Saturday Night Live skit. Fascinated, I continued to watch him. Gradually, I realized he was real. And over the years, he became my role model, my hero, my remote teacher.

As a direct result from watching and listening to Steve, I decided to switch careers. I'm not financially ready to make the switch yet, but have made big strides in making this happen. In the meantime, I've been volunteering at our zoo and I find the types of people who work there so refreshing. So positive and caring. I wanted more than anything to meet him in person one day, to shake his hand and tell him how he inspired me.

I have never been touched by a "stranger". Steve Irwin touched me with his love, protective nature, and charm. When I found out he had passed, I was in shock. I lost my Dad a couple of years ago to cancer. He was 42. I, too, like Bindi, have a little brother, whom I feel a responsibility to. I mourn for Bindi, Terry, and Bob. I mourn for the world on the loss of such a beautiful person. I am praying for all of them.

Steve wasn't embarrassed to show the tears he shed for his beautiful crocodile who passed a few years ago, his first crocodile. I am not embarrassed to say that I have shed quite a few tears for him.

Atta boy, Jami! That would make Steve so proud. Make sure you learn all the types of snakes that live where you live. If it was a venomous snake you wouldn't want to touch it at all, even with a bushy stick- unless you're a trained professional someday. That would also make him proud!

i also have a story like yours,, last winter, we were out fishing and one of our lines caught a seagull, so i told my dad and the guide to cover his eyes to minimize stress while we untangled the line and let him loose.

A few years ago, my seven-year-old daughter disclosed that she was being molested by the man I had been dating for five years. I became obsessed with prosecuting him and watching true crime shows. One day I accidently hit Animal Planet instead of CourtTV and Steve was on and smiling. I had forgotten that I used to watch him all the time.

I stayed tuned to Animal Planet that day for as long as Steve was on it and then I remembered I had a daughter somewhere in the house who needed me to put her before my quest for justice. The 'goodness' that I got from Steve that day lastest long enough for me to send him an email and thank him.

By the time it had worn off and I was back in darkness - I received a package in the mail from the Austraila Zoo. It contained pictures of Steve and his family and lots of brochures about his work...and a letter. I remembered my daughter again and we hung up the pictures together and read through the brochures.

Like I said, it's been a few years and life here has slowly gotten better for us. The pictures still hand in the den where we walk by them every day. Once in a while my daughter still teases me about having a crush on the Crocodile Hunter and I always admit that I do.

I'm so sorry he's gone.

hi all,

its great to see that all of us here have stories to share about steve irwin (RIP) and how he has influence and effect our lives ...

Ever since i was a little girl,i was in love with nature, animal and all the things around me Smile

When i was 8,dad bought me a pet rabbit and a baby turtle.I still remember as if it was yesterday...i've always been an animal lover...always....

When im in high school,i join the environment club.I always took part in activities such as World Wild Fund (WWF) charity drive and also participated in "Clean up the environment day" in my home town .

I've started to watch steve irwin's program on discovery channel and animal planet.I have been watching his program ever since i was in school until now...im in university!

Steve Irwin's passion for the animals and wild life has effected my life

He is a role model ...he's not only an animal activist, wild life nature person,he is also a loving husband and a caring father.

He is so passionate in what he do ...because he loves it...

what amazed me is...he risk his life...for doing something that he's passionate about....

sometimes...nature can be so cruel..why...oh..why..this is life...

Last but not least,

to dear terri...

i want you to know that your husband ..what he does for our environment...nature..and wildlife is beyong ordinary...he can never be replaced....

Terri...Bindi and baby bob....

I hope you will continue Steve's Legacy and the zoo Smile

I hope that maybe one day...when i get married and have children...i want to take them to your zoo and educate my kids how important it is for us to preserve wild life and be kind to nature....

Deepest sympathy...
Condolences

Well, I already posted one here but I have another:

Unless you are a mother who has raised a child to the "pre-teen" years, this is not going to mean as much to you as it will someday in your future!

I love animals. I have allowed my daughter every pet imaginable over the years, as long as we could afford it. And over the years, we have learned one thing...if she likes the kitten on the left - I love the kitten on the right. If she can't live without the puppy in the reat - I am already half-way to the car with the puppy in front. And on it goes! lol

Then we get home...she wants to name it "Spot" - I want to name it "Dee Oh Gee" And on it goes! lol

omg I know there are some moms reading this who know EXACTLY where I am by this time - my daughter is twelve. Now we don't just differ concerning pets - we are in mortal combat over EVERYTHING!

Yesterday, I bit a big financial bullet and bought a horse. She's beautiful - looks like any of the ones on any of the Black Beauty movies.

Several times throughout the day, my daughter asked if she could name her - several times I skirted the issue. Finally, she asked again and I turned to her and couldn't stop the tears that arbitrarily dripped off my lower eye lids. I just said, "Honey, I want to name her, Crikey."

My daughter looked at me with equally glistening eyes and said, "Mom, that's what I want to name her."

Through all the pre-teen angst and all the pre-teen heart-breaking fights, and after his death...Steve Irwin, again, brought my daughter and I together - at least for a while - when it was sorely needed.

I've been watching Croc Hunter for years and the moment I heard he was gone I, like every other person on this planet, denied it. Just thinking about what it would be like without him is enough to make me cry. He brought something new with every episode of his show. From gigantic crocs to venomous snakes, Steve did what we could only wish to do. I almost thought he was immortal and in a sense he is. As long as we introduce his legacy to generations to come he can never truly die. His generosity, kindness, and absolute love for all animals set him apart from all others. I remember watching his show and wishing I could do what he was doing. He had everything anyone could ever want. He had a family, a job that he loved more than anything, and a plethora of fans and followers. I hope that no matter what happens, Steve's show continues for many, many years beyond now. To Terri, Bindi, and Little Bob, I hope you all carry on his work, his legacy. And to everyone at Australia Zoo, never forget everyone's best friend and hero. Steve, wherever you are, wherever you go, you will never be forgotten as long as I live. CRIKEY! CROCS RULE, MATE!!!

That's interesting how just one man can change millions of people with one single act and yet those millions never changed him with a thousand instances. Steve was such a man that he knew what he wanted and was always the first to go for it. No matter what got in his way, he was ready to take it on and overcome it. His power, his very life was based on his ambition which wasn't realized, sadly, until his unjust and untimely end. He had hoped to end animal cruelty and usher in an era of peace between animal and human. He has made the opening moves in this chess game for us and I say we continue until check MATE! I, for one, choose to help carry on what Steve so valiantly fought for. I will help conserve nature and all creatures within. It is up to us to keep his memory and his work alive. That is how he'll live on and never die. He gave so much to us and now I say it's time to give him one last gift: His Dream.

Live on Mighty Croc Hunter and May Your Soul Rest in Peace Knowing We Will Continue on For Your Dream Until it is a Reality. Terri, Bindi, Bob, and all Australia Zoo staff, Push on for this mighty legend for his work is in your hands now decide how YOU will contribute to Steve's Dream.

I'm 18 years old now and I've been watching Steve since before I can remember. I hope to one day do what Steve did. I want to help animals and have fun doing it. I want to maybe have a show to help get the word out to the world. I'll never be as famous as Steve Irwin, but I can still do what he and I both love. I want to educate others as he did, dispel rumors about animals as he did, and most of all, live to the fullest as he did. Maybe one day we will all wake up to someone taking Steve's place. Not really replacing him but rather picking up where he left off. It could be anybody if they put all their effort and passion into it as he did. I love crocs and other reptiles but I am not without love for all other animals. And who knows, maybe even Bindi and Little Bob will be the one's taking his place. It would be worth watching a contiuation of a legacy through a great man's children. It is literally impossible to forget Steve even if one suffered amnesia. His deeds, enthusiasm, generosity, kindness, and friendship will never be forgotten. There is a little Steve in all of us. We just need to find it and bring it out. Once we do that there is nothing we can't do.

Once, when I was younger, I went for a hike with my brother and father. We were about 6 miles from home on foot so a poisonous bite meant the end. We were walking and a snake fell out of a tree and landed on my brother's head and he jumped. The snake fell off and landed next to a big tree. It was cornered but it still tried to escape. My brother, being only 8 and not quite as nature savvy as myself, decided to throw rocks, sticks, and whatever else he could get his hands on at the snake. I told him to stop even though he seemed to be acting out of fear. I told my brother that a snake's first instinct is to escape rather than attack. He still kept throwing stuff at it so I had to take action since my father didn't feel like doing anything. I started looking for a good stick and found one. I jumped in front of my brother and told him to stop so I can move the snake. Him stopped but was far from calm so I hurried before he lost it again. I slowly inched toward the snake and found it to be a Black Rat Snake. I got it to focus on my free hand and slowly put the stick down on it just behind it's head. It worked but I now had to grab it and find a place for it all before my brother went off. I grabbed it right behind where the I had him pinned with the stick, I moved the stick, and then the fun started. As the snake was in my hand and free of the stick, it started to struggle which naturally started my brother back into panic mode. I had a struggling snake in my hand and that on it's own put me in danger but try doing that with an 8-year-old throwing anything imaginable at you as well. I found a medium-sized tree about ten feet away and tried to calmly place the snake on a branch at about head height. By this time my brother had calmed down and just started to actually enjoy watching me relocate this creature. I pulled the branch down to put the snake on it and once the snake was on, I slowly let the branch go back up. We started walking again and my brother asked me how I kept so calm and knew what to do and I told him that I watched Steve talk about snakes and their instincts and habits. He asked who Steve was and I said the Crocodile Hunter. He still asked who I was talking about so I said I would show him when we got home. Then I asked my dad why he didn't help and he said that he knew I loved Steve Irwin and thought that it was a good chance to be like him. I was 12 then and my brother now enjoys catching snakes. I'm now 18 and he is 14. Steve helped me get out of that situation without people or animals getting hurt and I want to keep doing that. Steve thank you! You have taught me more than any school teacher ever could. I hope you're riding wicked waves and hanging out with awesome animals wherever you are. May there be more like you for in this day and age we need true heroes as you were and still are. May Croc Hunter always be shown so the world will never forget what one person can do when they have passion for what they do and the determination to make it happen. And may the Irwins and Australia Zoo continue on for all time as Steve's mission and work will. Farewell but not Goodbye Croc Hunter.

You're probably tired of me by now but this is all I can do to keep from going crazy. It's been well over a week since we lost Steve and I feel just as bad as I did when I first found out. Terri, I hope you will keep on going for Steve's sake. You are the only one who can pick up where he left off. I feel so bad but I can not even begin to imagine you and your children's pain. We lost a hero, but you lost a hero, husband, and partner. Bindi and Bob have lost a hero, father, and protector. I barely knew my dad because he was always locked up or on the road. Even when he was home, he would barely talk to us so I can sort of understand. You all have my sympathies and condolences. May he rest in peace and may you live a long life.

I will never forget Steve how could I. He was the best. I have so many memories of watching his shows and hoping I could meet him one day. I always wondered how he got the convidence it takes to realy feel safe with and animal that can kill anyone. I always hoped nothing would ever happen together and that he would be with us for a long time. I'm crying right now just writing this and thinking about what a true hero he really was. Nowone should ever take his dreams away from him and his family. Everytime I looked at snakes, crocodile, aligator, spider, and now stingrays I will miss him and think about what he would say if he was there repeadedly.

For Irwin family. Steve had alot of good times. He is special to me. I can't imagine how hard it is to get over the pain of losing Steve. I hope you read this email. He was a blessing to this whole world and to the animals. Steve is in a good place where thers is no pain, sickness, or suffering. I can't imagine how much suffering poor Steve had to go through. I love you guys. Steve is watching over you guys and smiling. Smile

For Bindi and bob. I wish you the best in everything you do. Your dad is watching over you now. He knows what your doing right now. You kids are in my prayers. Cool

For terri. I know its hard it is to deal with the fact that Steve is gone forever. Its hard for me too. I cry alot for him and for you and your kids. I love Steve as if he was a close friend even though I only know him through Animal planet. Steve is watching over you and your kids. Bindi and Bob are sooooooo cute. They are probably missing the dad as well. I know Steve was one of the best fathers and your one of the best Moms. I know its hard to be a single parent with two kids, and trying to get everything back on its feet. I know how much you miss him I do too. And I love him and I love you and you beautiful kids. They are very special and pressious. God loves you guys and loves Steve and taking care of him. I hope I have a chance to visit your beautiful zoo and meet you and a your kids.xoxoxoxoxoxox Love Dana. Smile

Steve's friends. I know how hard it is to lose someone so close to you. Frown I feel the same way though I knew him through Tv. Frown I have tears in my eyes everytime I'm sleeping, watching his show, and thinking about him and his family. Steve was like a god sent to earth for us to learn about animals and to respect them. Now god sent him to heaven as an angel. It had to be tough to watch him die. It was a true horrifying news. You probably learned the most out of anyone because you helped him with the animals and making the show the touched my heart. I wish you A lot of luck and I MEAN IT!! Smile xoxoxox Dana

I miss you Steve more then anything I ever miss so far. I'll always love you. You'll always have a place in my heart. Cool Hugs and kisses xoxoxo From your BIGGEST FAN: Dana.

To Fans: I know everyone is bumbed about Steve's death. He didn't deserve to die. To make myself stop crying I remind myself that hes in a better place. And he's and angel. Hes not in anymore pain and no suffering. I also remind myself that he has a place in my heart. Smile xoxox to all of you!!!!

Hey Jami, I have a few of those "Steve Irwin Experiences" as you call that... that should be your catch phrase...Like Steve's catch phrase is "Crikey!" and "What a beauty!" Steve is a legacy and no one will ever forget him and as you can see, many people have moments where they try to act the part of Steve or remember Steve. We should call those moments "Steve Irwin Experiences" I know I will because of you Jami.

The first time I ever saw the Crocodile Hunter show I was probably around 10yrs old. I am 21 now. I didnt know what the show was about and they didnt have Animal Planet back then... just Discovery Channel. I thought that it was going to be a show about someone hunting crocodiles!!! God forbid! Then I started to watch it and realized it was a good kind of hunting crocodiles. He hunted crocodiles and other animals not to kill them, but to educate people about them, just as he educated you Jami and now you know what to do when encountering wildlife. The first "Steve Irwin Experience" I remember having was when I was in about 7th grade and I was walking down my street by myself and I saw a small gartner snake. By this time I had been watching Steve's show and saw how he dealt with snakes. I wanted to be like Steve so I picked the little guy up by the tail (steve never held his snakes under the head, but rather by the tail to give them less stress) and stood with my legs apart (ready to spring out of the way of a deadly strike) like Steve does when holding a snake and I held the snake far out from my body like Steve does and I said "Have a look at this little beauty!" "Crikey isn't she georgous?!" Then I let the little snake go somewhere away from the road.

I will be back with more "Steve Irwin Experiences" to share. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity Jami. It is helping to heal my broken heart. And my heart is O-so-broken! I always thought I'd steal Steve away from Terri someday, lol. (Just jokingly of course!) I love you Steve.

How has Steve influenced me??? Well I have always loved animals, I am a dog/cat person, but not as terrified of spiders as I use to be. I always talked about how I felt, but never really did anything about it. Well Steve influenced me and I did a couple things, first I volunteer @ the humaine society as a puppy pal. Taking them for walks and showing them,,,, and playing with them Smile I also got a puppy mill busted. I saw his love and his tears when SUI died and I got off my butt.
He has alot to do with what I have done and what I am going to do!!

Thankyou Steve
I'll never ever forget you

I keep forgetting to tell you my name is Kyle but I prefer Ky. Anyway I understand what it's like to lose someone close to me. It's always painful and never easy to take but I've found that you also have to remember what you're left with. Steve may be gone, but Terri, Bindi, Little Bob, Wes, John, Steve's dad, and everyone at Australia Zoo are all still here. If you remember who is left, then there is still the hope that one day our hearts will be healed and we will push on. We can then set out to carry on his work. Steve's work can't just go to waste while we mourn this tragic loss. It will hurt a while and I understand but it will subside and we will remember what he wanted all along. He wanted animals to be treated with respect and care. That dream is still a work in progress and some are already working at it. Don't forget that there's a little Steve in all of us and we too can do what he did. He helped us understand that anyone can destroy nature but it takes a real hero to conserve it. He always wanted to be remembered for his enthusiasm and as a conservationist with passion for what he did and I say he got his wish, don't you? Whoever's trying to talk bad about Steve don't know what they getting into because they flat out don't know Steve. Someone said he provoked the ray but the press release clearly states he didn't. People shouldn't do that to someone who changed the world as much as he did. Steve was and still is a great man and will always be remembered for his deeds. May we all heal and continue his work for his sake. CRIKEY! CROCS RULE!!!

One time at my grandma's house, a black rat snake and a copperhead got into our tool shed and I had to figure out how to get rid of them. We lived in the middle of nowhere so calling for help wasn't an option and I wasn't about to let my mom or grandma shoot or chop them. It was easy enough taking care of the rat snake as you would imagine but the copperhead was poisonous and fast. I figured cornering it was a bad idea so I snuck around it and grabbed a broom. I put the broomstick behind it's head and grabbed it the same way I did the other snake. The only difference here was that if I wasn't careful, it was game over. Once I was sure I had the snake so it couldn't get away, I left the shed and went down toward the woods. I kept going until I reached a small creek and found a good place to release it. I got ready to let it go. I let the tail go into the water then I backed up to release the head. I let it go a pulled my hand back as fast as I could and, as I expected, it took a shot at my hand. It missed but only barely because I could feel the wind coming off it. If I was any slower, it wouldn't have turned out so pretty. I went back up to the house and mom asked me how I knew what to do and I said,"because I watch Croc Hunter." That night we all watched it: Mom, Dad, Kevin, Grandma, and Me. I was 13 at the time. Steve Irwin has helped me save animals from my family and save my family from animals. His knowledge was precious and with me when it was needed most. He shall not be forgotten because whenever an animal is in danger people will always remember Steve and what he taught us. The good news is we haven't had another snake problem up at my grandma's since then so she's glad. It's a good thing you started this post because everyone needs to know how Steve affected them and their life. Peace to Animals and Rest to the Mighty Steve Irwin.
