The myth states that cats land on their feet. I have dropped my cat upside down from a foot from the ground and it finds a way to land on its feet. Do all cats land on their feet? How about the old cats and kittens? Fat cats and skinny cats? Everyone loves watching cats. Can you please confirm or bust this myth. -Javi

I've done this experiment myself, and from 1.5 inches off the ground my cat can't right himself before hitting... but anywhere over that and he can.

I've also heard that dropping a cat from 7 stories is safer for the cat than dropping it from 6 stories. Apparently with the extra 10 feet the cat has that much longer to actually turn and land in it's feet. Hmm.

except that as I said they can right themselves 2 inches off the ground and what you describe is plain and simple animal cruelty.

I heard a saying once that a science experiment is successful if it can be repeated. I also did the cat drop test and the cat can always flip over at about 2 inches or more.
