We always use pencil leads for mechanical pencils right? But i have realised that a pencil lead is technically unable to be fully used. At a certain point of time it will get too short to be secured for you to use. Isn't this a waste of resources. Imagine in a world every second how many pencil leads are being thow away. The leftover part is about i say 10-20% of the whole pencil lead. Is there a way around it? or is it possible to finsih using a pencil lead.

Hold it under your fingernail and write with your finger. It works, though it's not easy. That'll eke out a few more words. Or simply admit we don't work in a perfect world.

Actually I was thinking I might have to work on that problem after I get my mechanical engineering degree lol. Definitely a need for better mechanical pencils (even the high end ones are faulty, ironically I think the cheap ones work the best lol).

Hopefully when you get to your VA/VE section (value analysis / value engineering) you'll see that this issue (over a lifetime) warrants about 5 minutes of your time.
