Me and my friend were on the bus eating jawbreakers and we both started to wonder if one can break your jaw.

How do you mean? I doubt you could bite it hard enough to break your jaw; I don't think your jaw muscles are that strong and besides, the pain would likely stop you before you bit that hard.

However if you were hit with one in the face hard enough, I'd imagine it could do the job.

Oh, I'd say it definatly could break a tooth. In fact, you could probably smack yourself in the mouth with it and chip one that way, if you weren't careful (I've seen people do the same on coffee mugs).

But "break your jaw" implies that it breaks the jaw BONE. That's quite a bit harder to do than chipping a tooth.

the worst i think youd be talking with a jawbreaker, if you could tolerate the pain would be dislocating your jaw from biting down very quickly very hard. the front of your jaws would be coming closer, while the jawbreaker acting as a fulcrum would cause the back side of your jaw to open more. just think about that for a minute and let that feeling sink into your mouth.
