even if his pants were air tight they wouldn't be helium tight and Levi's jeans are certainly not any of those.

I think denim fabric is porous and wouldn't hold the helium, it would pour out of the pants.

He would have to line his pants with a different fabric, make sure there was no air escaping and provide a very large amount of helium to make him float.
