Sometimes, when I read the find print in various car manuals, there is mention of an airbag system component that needs to be replaced every 10 years (just one component ???).

To me, this begs the question; Are old airbags reliable?

I think this is a perfect job for buster and a bunch of beaters in the name of science!

Cheers,

I would say as long as the bag itself still has enough integrity to hold the outgassing long enough, and the explosives and the detonator still works.. Yes..

But ofcourse, as with all things, airbags would become less reliable with age. Question is just how less reliable..

I believe they would still work but I hear that old airbags will burn you.
