I am a welder and all of my life I was warned NOT to use oil on oxygen and actulene cylinders or guages or they would explode. What really would happen?? Also, warned if you "arked" a cylinder, that is dragging a welding rod across a tank, it could rupture. Is this so?? Just my suggestions for a new show. Hoss.

I'd like to know too!
There are two there myths I'd like to see tested: 1) If you leave the regulator set (ie screwed in a bit to set the output pressure) and then open the main valve, the handle will unscrew violently. We were taught to ALWAYS fully unscrew the adjustment valve before opening the tank. Also, hold your hand on the valve (T handle) while opening the tank valve. I think it is bunk because fine pitch threads can not be back driven. 2) There is an old story of two guys in a bunker using an Oxy Acetaline cutting torch. The oxygen bottle falls over and becomes a torpedo. It rattled around inside the room. The men were reduced to hamburger. I'm sure it cold be deadly. Is it time to do a test with another pig? I'm sure the guys would hate cleaning up after this one.
