hello, There is a show in the UK called Top Gear (it is also on BBC America). It is not your typical car show and every week they feature a challenge. For example, they had to build cars that could drive on the freeway and then cross the English Channel. On two shows they decided to test what it took to destroy a Hiluix pickup truck. They proceeded to crash it into things, drive into the sea, set it on fire and finally place it on top of a tower block that was getting demolished. The idea was to see if the engine still work. A mechanic was allowed to work on the engine but was not allowed to use any new parts and only use basic tools. At the very end they had to give up because they simply could not destroy this truck. I would love if Mythbusters replicated their "tests" and finally did come up with a way to destroy the truck (besides explosives, that is too easy) Here is a youtube video of the first part of the show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrk6vsb77xkThanks,

What Top Gear did not do that I know would surely damage a Toyota 2L diesel engine was drive it into the ocean WHILE the engine was running (In that episode, they simply parked it nearby with the engine off and allowed the tides to come in and submerge the vehicle)
Water doesn't compress and in the case of sucking water into the air intake and cylinders of an engine, it will blow the head gaskets and bend the connecting rods. This is usually referred to as "Hydrolocking" the engine
The other way, you could drain the oil and replace it with sodium meta-silicate then run the engine at full throttle until it seizes. This is what had to be done to engines in all the Cash for Clunker's cars before they were scrapped in order to ensure the engine and related parts could not be reused.
(Toyota pickup trucks did not qualify for the C4C program though since most of them got better than 18mpg)
