Dear jamiehyneman, mistersavage and producer_dan.
I write on behalf of the Event crew at The Gathering, an annual event that brings together young, technically minded people from all around Norway, to party and enjoy for five days.
The Gathering started out as a "demo party" in the early 1990s - an event where young programmers, artists and musicians would compete with various entries to many different competitions that are organized over the course of the event. These competitions can take many forms - most are computer related, however there are some music-only activities, as well as a category for entries that don't fit any of the other competitions.
Since its early beginnings, The Gathering has grown to one of the world's largest computer culture events, with over five thousand participants. In recent times, however, the "demo-scene" has waned from what it once was, with gaming providing most of the entertainment, which frankly, seems somewhat passive.
In a way, it would be good to get more creative - and in essence we feel that as Mythbusters, your presence would be very well accepted, and a true inspiration to the participants. Many of them are already very likely to be fans of your show, and would find the experience to see you in real life quite amazing.
I also feel that you would very much enjoy the experience - there is a truly unique atmosphere at The Gathering, and Norway is certainly also worth a visit for many other reasons.
We would do as much as possible to accommodate your visit, and hope you perhaps would like to to a show with computer myths, or perhaps nerd myths, since we have over five thousand participants at the party being nerds in some way.
If this is not the correct place to ask for this kind of questions, would you please be so kind and direct me to the correct place, thank you?
I very much look forward to hearing your response.
