Myth: That the Irish and Scottish can drink more because "it's in their blood" I would like to know if someone's genes alone effect their ability to metabolize alcohol compared to other races?
Experiment: Have 2 different test groups (male / female), made up of as many different people who only have one racial background (ex. Scottish, Irish, Japanese, German, British, French, the biggest variety as possible). Have 2 control groups (male / female) made up of the same amount of people who have a multi-race background.
Keep the variables that effect the consumption of alcohol the same. Their body mass (or is it their weight?), their history of drinking, the amount of food consumed before hand, how hydrated they are. and the amount of time they consume the alcohol. Hopefully the only variable that would change between the testing group and the control, is their genetic background.
Make them drink and time how long it takes, and how drunk everyone gets.
