Ya know the Far Cry 2? I played it once, i had a very old, rusty, weared DE. And suddenly, it exploded. Could that happen in real life? Please repl!

Here's a myth I had posted in its own thread a while back, but it might get more attention here:

In the video game Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, there is a segment where you have to get through a courtyard undetected while a guard wearing night vision goggles looks on from a tower. The twist is that there is an automatic spotlight slowly passing through the courtyard. In order to pass through, your character has to hide from the guard by staying in the spotlight.

My question is simply: Is it possible to hide from a person wearing night vision goggles by staying in a bright light?

Yes, but only with binocular night vision goggles. NVGs have a "bloom" effect where when exposed to bright light, the green will oversaturate, temporarily blinding the viewer before shutting off (at least with US NVGs). NVGs are extremely sensitive.

But the US military has solved this with the monocular, or one-eyepiece NVG. This leaves the other eye naked, preserving night-vision in case the NVG gets blinded by bright light, at least the viewer will be temporarily blinded in one eye, not two.

Left 4 Dead - What would really happen if you were to guzzle an entire bottle of ibuprofen? Razz

And I'm not sure if this has been tested before, but is it true that by shooting a lock, any lock, will cause the bullet to ricochet and kill you?

And as for making cool gadgets, how about the hidden dagger in Assassin's Creed?

I've heard that and it's TRUE. %100. It happened to me once. I had a game that involved solving puzzles and hitting people with a staff, that took place in egypt. The next day at school I tried to decode our math assignment, and I hit the bully who was picking on with with a long stick. Later I could have sworn the hills behind my house looked like the pyramids.

In alot of video games (especialy 2D puzzle games) a person can push a block or boulder or something that's like x5 the size of them with no trouble at all.

So, because it (supposedly) happened to you it happens to everyone?

It's like Jedi Mind Control, it only works on the weak minded.
