My friend told me that if you go under a Toyota Prius, open a certain compartment and touch the orange wire within that you will be killed instantaneously by the amount of electricity running through the wire. A) does such wire exist? and B) does it really have that much "juice

You don't have to crawl underneath the vehicle (and there is no compartment you can open from underneath anyway)

Just pop open the hood. See those orange cables between the firewall and the inverter module ?

There's about 280 volts running through them

Pretty much all hybrid vehicles have standardized on using orange loom to identify the high voltage wiring
