Hello Adam and Jamie. I have a myth I've always heard but doubted. This not so much myth as debate says that the video game system, Gamecube, is more durable than any other game system (XBox, PS2, XBox 360, and PS3), even under extreme stress. I hope to God this is busted (I'm a 360 fan).
Thanks, Andre

well the Game Cube is less complicated then them new game systems, but iff so, then wouldn't that mean that even older consoles like NES or supernintendo would last even longer? If you want to know I've had a Game Cube for about 4-6 years and it still works perfectly. AND NINTENDO RULES!!! the 360 has oblivion and i give credit for that game but you can't top Mario or Link man...

i mean extreme stress as in hitting it with a hammer or dropping from a large height

Why would you do that? Maybe you could run over it with a truck while you're at it.

A basketball and a hoop are more durable than either, and give you a better workout.

To watcher56: that's the myth.
To Fridgidator: what?
To Archer_dude: I understan about the Wii but the PS3, as much as I hate to admit it is really durable. And as for the 360, its reputation speaks for itself.

We have an old Monopoly game that's been in the family for about 40 years now and it still works great.

I highly have to disagree, if you even just put a 360 on it's side (not that i have anythinginst 360) it can mess it up, and it will probally ruin the game inside. Infact, when the 360 first came out, they all had to be returned because they burnt their selves out. as for the PS3? well idk, they'd probally put a hard cover with that kind of graphic engine or chip or what ever they use for it. but if you hit it with a hammer i dont know if it would still work. the game cube would probally have its cover damaged, but the shock wont screw anything up.

what i think, is probally that dream cast (the first console i think) or NES would probally be the most durable.

Atari? Pong?
Anyway, the only way I can see this having significance is reports of new systems "falling off a truck". Would they really survive the fall?
Oh, and for durability, how bout those gameboys?
I have had one go through the washing machine(a Gameboy Color) and one that fell in the snow and was lost for a week(a GBA SP, before the new backlights). Both still work. Although my Gameboy Pocket's powerswitch broke when it got dropped.

To Tomeis93: If I even slightly tap your computer with a hammer it'll break.
To GTCGreg: Monopoly is a board game.

To Archer_dude: Listen, I understand that the 360 is pretty fragile( I take back what I said earlier ), but for more than a year, I used my 360 on its side and it worked perfectly fine. Also, the N64 came before the Dreamcast.
To pretzelman: lol, but seriously. A gameboy color and a gameboy SP would shatter to shrapnel if it ever gets hit with a hammer, although that probably would never happen.

I have had my original Nintendo for about twenty years now, and it still works just fine. Same goes for my SEGA Genesis.
