In the movie "Rambo" Rambo is freeing a prisoner and 2 guards find him and aim at them, then a 50 MM sniper shoots one of them through a fence, can thisreally happen?

There's a shoulder-fired weapon with a projectile nearly 2 inches in diameter? Holy cow.

But seriously, it's .50 cal, as in .50" diameter. And the answer is no.
