some of you out there that appreciate swords might hate me for this but i took a 440 stainless and a original civil war era saber and done edge on edge. what happened you ask? it did nothing but create a small nick in the civil war one and created a bigger nick in the 440 stainless. i then did an edge on flat. using the civil war saber on flad side of 440 stainless caused miner dulling of the edge of the saber and noticable cuts in the 440 stainless with warping of its shape.
im a male, 6'4" in height and weigh 290. i put all my striength in these swings.
with these results if i had to swordfight i would not be worried about cutting or breaking a sword or trying to do the same against the opponet. its not ging to happen.
