Here's an idea for a new one... Finding water pipes via water dowsing or water witching ( using two pcs. of metal rod to find/ locate water pipes or even using a tree branch shaped like a wish-bone ) I have found that they say this is a myth... I have tryed this method and found that I get mixed results....

They've said before that they don't want to do any more "oogie boogie" myths, and dowsing falls squarely into that category as it has no scientific merit whatsoever.

I'd make two suggestions for you:

1- Google "ideomotor effect" if you want to know how dowsing acutally "works"

2- use the "find" function, and read quite a bit of discussion on the subject on these forums.

Bottom line is that every time it's been tested in a controlled environment, it has failed miserably.

176 listings for dowsing and 48 for water witching and you are calling Preserved K dumb? The rules of the board clearly tell you to use find before posting "new" myths. With this being discussed over 225 times it is hardly new.

I know I posted this question before I used the FIND button... who cares! you ignorant people dont need to point it out to the would! and make it sound like youre better and smarter than everyone else! I have better things to do than do that dumb kinda stuff!I and over 176 others think that this would be a good one to bust! thats it!

chevy -- Normally I don't step in on childish bickering on a forum, but the fact is you should have just left it at "I know I posted this question before I used the FIND button" ... A lot of people do this, there are hundreds of repeated discussions throughout this board .. It happens .. Try not to take offense when people get frustrated at you about it, because the reality is we don't know just how often the producers read this board, what they look for, etc, so when people come up with a unique idea/myth and it gets pushed 10 pages down by repeating discussions, you have to admit you'd probably find it frustrating too, especially since people bumping their own posts is also frowned on, it's a catch 22 .. The fact that you even admitted you were wrong is good, you'd be amazed at how many people say things like "Yeah well my idea for testing whether poppy seeds make you fail a drug test is different, because I said to eat 2 bagels instead of 1!" and things like that, because they don't want to admit they messed up.

Let it slide off your back, as I recommend to everyone, and if they bother you, just stick them on ignore, then you won't have to worry about it Smile ..

I was not trying to make you look dumb. I was pointing out the realities of dowsing. You posted your idea on a discussion forum; I was discussing it. If you didn't want its merits discussed, you shouldn't have posted it.

And could you please point out where, exactly I said that it shouldn't be done on the show? On the contrary, despite the fact that it's been debunked over and over AND that they've said they don't want to do this kind of thing, I think it would make for a good episode.

I tried this with 2 brass rods. It seemed to work. I closed my eyes while holding the rods. When I walked over water lines the rods crossed. I skeptical, but why did it work? MythBusters please t
