As an electrician I have seen lightning hit houses and depending on the states electrical code (or the NEC) the main panel has to be gounded 2-3 different ways Via Ground rod, ground plate, and a ground attached to the in coming water pipe. but on that note alot of houses now have pvc (or Poly Vinyl Chloride) witch is plastic and does not provide a ground. anyways i have seen people get shorts in the ground. i have only gottin zaped never electricuted. not saying it isent posable put just giving some insight.
