In life guarding, an AED and Oxygen are two important tools to help save lives. Also, there is something called the 6 foot rule meaning that when using an AED everything should be 6 feet away. The AED should be 6 feet from the pool and the oxygen tank should be 6 feet from the AED. The myth is that the shock from the AED could set off and explosion with the oxygen tank when using oxygen in a rescue if the rule is not maintained. Sound possible?

AED's are kept on aircraft...so are O2 bottles although it is NOT medical O2. If an AED is used on a smaller corporate jet w/in a few feet of an O2 bottle will it explode? Also, what would it look like if a person used an AED on a person but forgot to pull the O2 off the person first?
