many times when someone drops food on the ground they say five seconds till it goes bad or until it has germs on it. I would like to know if thats true.

I've heard that too, but the truth of the matter is there are already germs on that floor. so it really doesn't matter if it's one second or ten seconds, that food is going to have some germs on it once it's made contact with the floor.

But i don't care, i'll still eat it if it's within 5-secs. =)
