I saw the first 5 minutes of tonights episode and it made my head hurt. So unorganized the camera flying around all over, 10 pictures of the same piece of chicken. I have never seen such a worse cooking show in all my life. He couldn't even get the can open. WOW

Too bad you didn't care for the show...back to watching Martha Stewart for you...as for the rest of the Sam fans...not being all that perfect, which most of us are, suits us just fine, in every normal sense of the word.
Sam..thanks for keeping it REAL!...

Shows you are not the majority. When this show ran in San Diego on local television, Sam got two Daytime Emmy's. jumpyhights, you can go watch Bare Foot Contessa, we'll stick with Sam.

Wow jumpy! I've never seen such a worse use of grammar. I say hooray for a real cooking show and a real cook. Sam is a real cook for real people. I'll be tuning in, as I too, am a cook.

Many of us San Diegans have been watching Sam for the last few years. Even my husband (who doesn't cook) thinks the show is great. His ideas are creative, yet simple, and his dishes that I have prepared have tasted fabulous.

He is not the normal "cookie cutter" food show host. He throws in a pinch of personality, and a dash of sense of humor to every show.

Good job to Discovery, for discovering this fun and informative show. I will tune in, even for reruns.

At the risk of be the minority here....I just wanted to make a suggestion for the show. KEEP HIM STILL!!! All that rocking back and forth makes my poor old head hurt. I love his ideas and it took me awhile to figure out why my nerves got frayed while watching him. The camera is all over the place. He is new to my area and I will tape his shows and try to only watch what I have to.

I just saw the "Just Cook This" guy for about the third time. He’s a real guy who I can relate to. I'm not a trendy kind of guy, just a regular guy who likes to cook living in Florida. Sam isn't pretentious and is a real down to earth guy. I like the casual realistic atmosphere of the show too.
The episode of the grilled salad hit home with me. He opened up the grill and put the half a head of romaine on and said “that’s really hot” talking about the heat coming off and how it hurt his hands. Most TV chefs never say anything about it or have asbestos fingers from the years of experience. I don’t and I’m in Sam’s boat.
I don't have the time to listen to a complicated Chef with about 20 ingredients in each meal that costs an arm and a leg to make. My wife and I work every day, we need a guy like this for simple, great tasting affordable meals.
Watch out Food TV, Sam’s the man!!!

You are the train wreck! I love this show. You never know what is coming next, it's not staged and it's really good simple things that any can cook. The dogs are great too! And Sam is great!! Love that personality.

Question:

If you have never seen a worse cooking show, then why do you persist in wasting time posting here? Why waste your time on negativity when Martha Stewart's BB would greet you with pleasure?

Of course you're free to fill this board with your negative comments, but why bother?

Interesting how someone thinks a show is all about camera angles and how many shots of the same chicken they are forced to see. It's not about the show or it's ratings, it's about simplifying dinner preparations and I think he does a good job. If you don't like the show... just go to his website for the easy recipes and stop griping because it doesn't suit your taste.

Well... there are dozens of cooking shows out there. But this one I really appreciate. I am the father/cook for my wife and 2 year old. BUT we also commute 60 miles (round trip) each work day. So his recipes are attractive to me, but also his techniques. As it turns out, now when I go shopping I spot things I would normally pass by but now consider. I.E. bag o' shrimp, scallops, or anchovy paste. My pantry is now more influenced by Sam the cooking guy than any other third party and my family is eating better and more interesting while eating out less. I whipped up the goat cheese/spinach pizza one night in a couple minutes and we cant wait to do it again.

My two year old has now been exposed to goat cheese pizza and a great pasta sauce with capers and anchovy paste in it. She likes it as much as we do.

On out list of things to do is the tortilla soup. Hey Sam.. how about an all soup show?

Sam, if you read these, ignore ignoramuses. Keep doin´what you´re doin´. I´m new to your show, having only seen it three times so far. I LOVE that it´s fresh, simple and so much FUN!!! I would tune in for the laugh factor alone. I also love that your recipes are so quick. I don´t mind spending hours on a dish, either, and have done so hundreds of times, but most of the time, living alone (and loving it!),and running a small farm, I want something good and FAST to eat. You are a wonder and a pleasure for me. Thanks!

Sam's the man! Jumpyhights please please just go away. His random sense of hilarity and awesome easy recipes make this show a success. Keep it up Sam, and hopefully you get your new home kitchen finished so you can tape more "Sam the Cooking Guy" shows.

We're a normal family that doesn't keep a lot of fancy ingredients around, and with 3 kids we don't have time to cook complex meals, either. I only watch 2 shows -- Just Cook This (with Sam), and Good Eats. When we want to know the details or get fancy, Alton Brown is great. But when we want something good, fast, healthy, and just plain want to know WHAT to make, Sam is top dog.

PS: Oprah, please don't kill Sam.
