I heard somewhere that if a bullet were fired out of a car window, the initial velocity of the projectile would be the muzzle velocity, plus the speed of the car.As an example, let's assume a 9mm pistol fires a round at 100mph. We are in a car driving 50 mph. I stick my hand out of the window and shoot the pistol. When the projectile leaves the barrel of the weapon it is traveling at 150mph. (100mph, speed of projectile, plus 50mph, speed of car travel, = 150mph.) Obviously the projectile would not continue at this speed due to friction but MYTH or Busted?

Neither.

Simple physics. Fact.
