How long do you think that MythMod would keep their position as forum moderator if they did not follow the rules. For any of us that work as a Administrator of any computer system or application has to have the maturity and self discipline to use their elevated privileges appropriately.

I have to commend anyone who can do the job of moderating a public forum in a fair and impartial manner.

Be grateful that Mythmod does have procedures to follow. On another forum I go to, the mods are pretty well left to exercise their authority freely. They don't act out of line or abuse their power too much, but don't go making them mad...

About how many mods does Discovery.com use? Surely there are some that work behind the scenes as well as on the front lines.

Uh... it's called Terms of Service... you agree to them when you sign up. It doesn't matter if it's a message board somewhere, or for your ISP providing you with your internet connection. If you violate the terms of service, they no longer have to supply service to you. Now, obviously some violations are graver than others, so some will be an immediate response, and other will just be a warning, but *any* TOS violation can lose you service.

No, she can't do "anything she wants". She can enforce the terms of service. She can not make judgement calls on who is or isn't a "good candidate". But she can prevent gross violators, or repeat violators, from returning.
