Men's Journal is going to do a Q&A with Adam and Jamie about their participation in Discovery Channel's "Shark Week" this year as well as the upcoming season premiers of "MythBusters" - and they need our help.

What do they need help with? Questions, of course! They need some really great Shark questions for our Myth Busting Duo!

Here's some examples of what we're looking for...
1.) What's your favorite shark movie?
2.) What do you do to prepare for Shark Week?
3.) Which shark myth are you most excited about?

With that out of the way... here's your reward! A sneek peek at the topics for MythBusters Shark Week episode!

Peeper penetration - does poking a Great White Shark in the eye really work?
Animal magnetism - are sharks attracted to magnets in the water?
Flapping fish - does flapping/splashing in the water really attract sharks?

In addition those the Build team will also be testing the following:
The Shining - are sharks attracted to shiny things?
Playing dead - will it keep sharks away?

I'm so excited! Let's get those questions rolling!!!!

ARE THE SHARKS GOING TO BE HUNGRY OR NOT WHEN YOU DIVE? LOL.

THE REAL QUESTION IS......WHERE DO THE SHARKS ACTUALLY GO WHEN THEY DIE????

Not exactly a myth, but it's hard to explain a shark's propulsive power with science, given their mass and tail size.

are there any viable shark "repellents"? I have heard of "bubble screens" and dye packs. Any others?

There are somethings in life one should learn NOT to play with,,, I could give you a list,, but Sharks are one of thme on that list...
Shark movie - Jaws had its run for sometime, the only other movie would be Deep Blue Sea.. had cool effects, thoughts and ideas,,, At this time, it's true, that Sharks haven't caught cancers of any kind,,,
Shark Myth,,, I think it's called "Kantra"
wher as "YOU" would get in a tank with a shark (live) allow the shark to come to you ( almost biting you in half Eek Eek) where as you use the palm of both of your hands to capture the nose portion of a shark, to where you put the shark in a state of suspension,,, to where the shark will be dayzed and relaxed to apear to asleep........ Razz or if the shark awakes,, it will tear both of your arms off,,,""" not good,,,,, Eek
Althought the theroy is by bringing both of your palms together, with your finger tips open , the idea" is that the sharks nose gets placed between your palms,(fitted position) in moments the shark get relaxed,,,,, and yes,, it suppose to be able to be done with a Great White as well,,,,,
UUmmmmmmmmm........ maybe something more simple....
next thought,, you can't teach a shrak to swim backwards,,, try placing him in a tube with only 2 directions to go,, forward and backwards,, with out room to turn around....

I remember hearing that during WWII, sharks where actually attracted to the sound of gun fire. Kind of like a dinner bell, is that possible? Can the sound of gun fire be heard from a great distance through water?

Is it true that if some sharks swim into a freshwater river they swell up and explode because of the salt in their body?

I saw in a movie, A scientists surprise because sharks that had been "Genetically modified" and had therefore become intelligent, had learned to swin backwards. Is it true that all real sharks (not movie sharks), are completely unable to swin backwards.

Here are a few for you from a West Australian surfer with years of experience in the water:
1. Sharks will not go into shallow water to attack (false - we had a death at Cottesloe Beach in 2 feet of water).
2. Sharks hit with tremendous force (true - one hit a kayak carrying a local LAWYER, Brian Sierakowski. He is an ex footballer and said "It was like a Mack truck).
3. Poking in the eye deflects shark attack (true - an Albany swimmer did that and survived this week).
Some I would like answered:
1. Do any repellents work? (I doubt it - a surfer was attacked with an electronic device on).
2. Would a shark only attack a black wetsuit (relates to sharks mistaking surfers for seals)? I doubt colour makes any difference due to the low number of attacks and very high % of black wetsuits.
3.Are you more likely to die in a car, let alone a plane, than by shark attack? Must be a simple statistical analysis. Must be true for coastal dwelleing swimmers at least.

If sharks think that surfboards are seals, if the surfboard was a different shape or color would they try to eat it?

I thought they already did the poke in the eye thing?

Cant really think of a shark one, but got a swimming one. Professional swimmers shave their body hair because they think it makes them more aerodynamic. But how much of an edge does it give them?
