So, was there ever a point where you were sitting in some engineering classroom thinking, "Someday, I'm going to get paid to poke great white sharks in the eyeball on cable TV for entertainment."
Also: how do you decide who gets to do the really fun jobs like poking great white sharks in the eye? is it more rock paper scissors, or is it more the "I know where you live, get in the damn water" method.
In the myth about shooting fish in barrel, I learned that it was the "sonic waves" and not the bullet that did the most damage to the fish. Also in a video game I played, you could use some sort of "sonic gun" to kill attacking sharks. So the myth is this: Using a device that emits strong "sonic vibrations", can you scare away, or kill, a shark? Please get back to me on this.
here's a shark myth: Can you realy distract a shark with air bubbles from an oxygen bottle?(like in the movie deep blue sea)
and here's some questions, who of the mythbusters is/are afraid of sharks? What if you put blood of jamie's moustach and put him in the water with a few small sharks, would they eat jamie, or simply shave of his moustach? Would you like to ride a shark one time?
I was reading a few posts and some people have mentioned sharks might be attracted or affraid of different colours. I have been diving for a number of years and love sharks, which in turn made me research more about sharks and their behaviour. I have came across several example where shark enthusiasm tested to deter sharks by wearing black and white horizontal striped wetsuits. Apparently the pattern of the wetsuit used was to mimic a black and white sea snake(apparentley the mosts poisonous snake but it could not possibly bite a person because the teeth are to far back in the mouth). I believe it was tested by Ron and Valarie Tylor who are huge shark conservationists and Ron actually filmed some of the live Great white cutscenes for the original 'Jaws' movie. I also read they tested a yellow wetsuit that attracted sharks, they called it 'YUM YUM YELLOW'. I have only ever seen photos of them testing the black and white suit, it would be great to see if both wetsuits work or it is a Myth. The test could have a black(Seal coloured) control wetsuit, then the two test suits, black & white and the yellow suit. Something tasty to attract the sharks could be placed in the wetsuits to increase the chance that the sharks are only interested in the wetsuits being tested. Ok enough ranting from me for my first post.
1) does shark repellent attract barrackuda and vice versa? I heard this about 15 years ago.
2) Great White sharks close their eyes before they bite into thier victims, Blue Sharks do that as well, but how about other sharks? Hammer Head Sharks don't really hunt for thinks big enough to warrant blinking to protect themselves from particulates from their victims
3) aside from seals, have sharks ever leaped out of water to kill their prey?
4) do sharks poo? (I doubt that this will every be answered on the air, but I have never heard of sharks "passing" their victims.)
Hi. I saw the Tomb Raider movie And at the first part, se lures a shark to herself and hits it so hard that it turns away and she grabs its fin and it actually takes her to the surface. Is that really possible?
I am a big fan of mythbusters and I would like to give a myth on Shark Week. here's the myth: Can a modern ninja cut or slice an attacking shark in half with one strike only?? When you are bleeding underwater and a group of sharks are ready to chow down on thier main course (which is you), can you escape them using a can of hair spray?? Can you kill a shark by dodging it when it attacks and you let it eat the engine of your boat resulting to an explosing and giving everyone free shark meat?
