These questions are all well and good, but I have to say that I really wanted to submit a few really good myths. When can we get back to that?

1) Most probably Jaws
2) Can't say i really prepare
3) After patting a dog should you wash your hands as sharks are apparently more attracted to that smell than than your smell. Or similar is not recommended to swim with dogs for that same reason.

And to those wondering what are they chances are of being killed by a shark apparently more people die eating sharks then by being eaten by sharks

Dude, posting your e-mail on a publicly accessible forum isn't a good idea. You might want to ask MythMod to edit it out for you.

If they need to contact you, they've already got your info from when you signed up for the boards.

Can a shark really smell a drop of blood in a cubic mile of ocean (or whatever volume the myth says)?

How fast can a shark swim?

Does a shark really have to keep moving in order to stay alive? Can it ever stop?

Sharks are reputed to be unable to get cancer, is this true?

In Tomb Raider 2, Angelina Jolie stopped a shark by punching it in the nose. Possible, or not?

How good of a memory does a shark have. Can it actually seek revenge on someone?

Does a shark really have unlimited sets of teeth?

Supposedly, sharks are made of cartilage, and have no bones. Is this true?

Can a shark jump out of the water like a porpoise? You see that in movies a lot.

Best of luck to you.

how about.

"are sharks really attracted to blood?!" Smile

i mean, EVERYBODY says they are.

my mom's been telling me those stories about sharks smelling blood or whatever even since i was like 4

but is a shark REALLY attracted to blood?

like, don't they actually see like outlines of their prey swimming on the surface and then attack from underneath the water?

Do sharks ever run out of teeth if they keep breaking them off?

I would like toalso submit a challenge for a myth:
Does speeding use more gasoline?
and
Do you use more gas while driving with the windows down and while letting the car idle?

Are you really safer in larger groups. My Dad used to joke that the shark would have lots of other choices.

As a big time fan of CSI (and MB of course,
sey hey to Buster for me), and a friend of
mine just got back from deep sea fishing
- and caught a shark as well as other fish.
They do this once a year and have fish for
the entire year! Can't wait till they invite
me over again!

so, here's my q's - pls don't "ahem" me,
i simply haven't had time to log in (let
alone watch much tv) - finals doan tchuh gknogh???

1. Is it true that sharks:

a) will eat anything; ie, the garbage
collectors of the sea?

b) If they did eat a person don't the
chew up what they eat? I see these
whole arms or legs on CSI. The show
is *supposed* to be way accurate. Hmmmm

c) Can smell blood a mile away? And how
does anything get smelled under the
water with tides, currents and such???

2. Maybe a bit of a science moment on the diff
kinds of sharks, and such.

3. Also, what about killer whales? Def intelligent
but still a killer. (Thinking of "Wall Street"
or "Trading Places" here Wink

4. So, what's Jamie's and Adam's B/G
when it comes to diving and such?
(Me: i'm a surface dabbler - snorkle, mask,
and fins only).

5. And what *IS* the thing about "shark fin soup"?
This seems as sad as turtle soup - there are
enough alternatives, me thinks; argghy, me hearties!

btw: the whole thing about the dolphin scaring off
the shark attack *still* wow's me!

I loved the article that Discvoery Mag did on J & A
as "the new inspiration for young science students".
Way cool - but, then i *still* think Mr. Wizard
is cool as well as Bill Nye; and i can't get enough
NASA channel.

well done to all the cast and crew there
-- one abs fab show!!

frank - snapping at the bit to see the shark ep!

1) fourite shark movie: would be jaws and deep blue sea.
2) to prepare for shark week you need to send out and awerness of the dangers that sharks are faced with these present days.
3 favourite shark myth?..a)i would say in deep blue sea one on the white sharks rams a metal door open..b) there is also a part where the cook throws a zipo into the kitchen and blowsup the shark, after turning on the stoves gass. But would have he survived it? and wouldnt the zipo be put out if he threw it?...

One more guys i'm sure your tired of hearing from me. This one is not a shark question or myth, but you should keep it on the back burners. Its a hollywood myth from 1994's movie "The Shadow" staring Alec Baldwin and John Lone. Both characters fire a bullet at eachother at the same time and the question is can one bullet stop another?
