Our company is developing a medical training simulator and I would like to know more about the ballistics gel used in Mythbusters.
First off, conduction of electricity is important. Our simulator is being used to train people on monitoring the electrical activity of the brain, spine and muscles. Does the gel conduct electricity as well as human flesh?
Second issue is longevity. We wouldn't want to make a new simulation dummy every week, so how long would one last if kept inside a temperature and humidity controlled room?
Finally, where can we get some gel and some molds to make a human dummy?

They say on the show that it has the same conductivity as a human, I do not know about that first hand, but I take their word on it.
Ballistics gel does not last too awful long from what I have seen, but perhaps if it is kept in a temp and humidity stable room it might last longer.
I have seen ballistics gel sold at hunting stores such as Cabela's, however it is not offered online there(not sure why) but there are also recipes for it and I am sure you can find a retailer online to purchase it from.
The MBs used a vaccuform machine to make their human molds, they took a dummy and simply made a mold of plastic using the dummy. I suppose you could do better using silicone or something like that though.

Ballistics gel has been asked about before. Some information about it and links to sights that tell you how to make it can be found in this thread; http://community.discovery.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/98019...471942959#2471942959As for molds, you *might* be able to buy one from special effects companies or model makers if you look around. But chances are you'd have to make one your self, or pay for someone to make one for you.
