The two principle players in MB claim to have over 30 years of experience in special effects but seem to have little knowledge in some basic engineering or physics. The glaring errors they make in their approach to myths seem to be faulty from the beginning on many areas.
Is this just to show the thought processes of the average 'Joe' or is it truly just ignorance in the basic sciences?

You'll need to give specific examples of the "glaring errors" so that the community can know exactly what you're talking about.
Every interview I've ever read - and I've read TONS - let's the reader (and in extension, the viewer) that the show is "every day joe science.

I totally agree with Mythmod. The mythbusters are very professional and use scientific principles along with tons of professional assistance in all their myths. You'll have to be more specific in your allegations.
Of course, mistakes do happen, nobody is perfect, but all in all, I'd say they do a very good job.

Right 30 years worth of experience in special effects. Grant is an Electrical Engineer, Jess if I recall correctly was a Mechanical Engineer, Red is a sculptor, Tory is a Model Maker. This is the best Descriptions that I can recall from reading http://www.m5industries.com a few months back. Jamie and Adam work in *SPECIAL EFFECTS* not physics or engineering.

Electro Tech, You do realize that Mythbusters is part of M5 Industries?? This company hires professionals that specialize in different science fields. Adam and Jamie always get help, when they need it, from their collegues. You can see this on the show. Sorry, but even though they have to act for the camera........it's science in the end.
