MM has answered this question before greatnt249. Put simply it either involves knowing some of the production crew/producers (or they know you) and them asking you to take the job. Or it involves going for a interview with Discovery like any other job.

Mythmod, Do you know when the new episodes of the mythbusters are coming back to discovery channel. I heard rumors from other internet sources that by the end June and others say by July. Which one of those is that "hits the nail", meaning coming close to the truth.
Thanks,

End of July for American release, was the last "firm" date I can recall seeing.
Other locations will vary beyond that.

I wanted to suggest to you mythmod something that you might like it. A lot of people are still posting the same myth about curving bullets in other parts of the forum, could you extend the sticky called "urving bullets are like leprechauns" placing it all over the section of the MB forums so that people could read the stickies. That way people would see it(noticing the top sticky, also reading it), to avoiding clotting the board with the same myth all over again.
What do you think about this idea ?

If every over posted myth had it's own sticky on every forum, the entire first page would be nothing but stickys.
Besides, no one seems to read the stickies before they post anyway. First it was POAT, then curving bullets and now cell phone popcorn. And even if a myth is busted, it still continues to get posted for years. Take getting zapped by lightning in a shower as an example. Confirmed on the show years ago yet still shows up every day or two.
I think it's something we just have to learn to live with.

I guess it's true, we all have to just live with it. Take a few deep breath, ignoring those one-time posters that are just simply annoying but what else can we do, right. By doing that, what I suggested it's gonna do nothing people are still gonna come in here, avoiding the stickies disobeying the rules just doing whatever they want. Without really thinking about things first before doing anything else that they have to follow the rules of the board, instead of ignoring them.
But to me it's hard to picture to myself, what's hard with following the rules a little bit ? Is there any problems that is confusing to you not that you have to ignore the rules ? Are you above the authority, just to avoid the rules ?

To be fair not everyone has seen every episode of MB, or been with the show from the start, so they may not be aware that some myths were tested years before.
Even people who have seen episodes may have missed for forgotten some vital point that also deals with other myths. For example we had someone asking if lightning could create a EMP that would knock electrical equipment out - something MB confirmed while testing the lightning in the shower myth without intending to.
It is easy to say 'well, check the episode listings', but they are not that easy to find and navigating the homepage with a slower connection must be frustrating. Its bad enough for me with a 3meg connection speed, I don't want to think what it must be like with a slower connection.
What might be more useful would be a list of tested myths on the board, ideally with links to the mini-myths or other video's discovery sees fit to put online. Of course this would require time and effort and I'm guessing that's not going to happen unless someone around here has the time and inclination to write such a list.

That's a good idea cybermotis. But with one exception, first of all we got to ask mythmod the favor if someone is going to do that thread of putting the episode guide/listings on the board. That she got to put it on the top of the page like a sticky so that everyone gets to read it, before posting anything else. That they might be interesting reading before putting an idea first on the board. All she got to do is put it everywhere on the board, but we can't place lots of stickies on the top of the page because it will only be the first page full of stickies just like GTCGreg mentioned before.
Maybe the title of the thread might be like for example: " Mythbusters Episode Guide List; READ BEFORE POSTING ¡¡¡¡¡ IMPORTANT !!!!!!! " or some other good title might be a good idea(it also does the trick) to spread out throughout the whole board so that people might notice them, and take the extra-care of reading them so that to avoid clotting the board with repeated/done myth on the show.

The title could be in big two inch high blinking letters that move with the cursor and people still wouldn't read it.
I'd like to have a nice list of what has been done on the show - in the order they were shown (with original air dates) as a quick reference...

MM, is this what you like to see? http://community.discovery.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9801967776/m/8371902229
If it is, I'll finish it up for you. However, they don't have the airdates.

MM can answer in terms of what she was envisioning, but if you want an honest opinion/criticism, the segment names aren't sufficient on their own.
"Cola Myths"... "Racoon Rocket"... "Biscuit Bazooka"... people who actually read the list would need to know *what* was tested.

Yeah a more efficient way of manner of doing the myth tested on the show. Like a basic description of what was tested on the show and what date where they aired or something similar to that. And the names of which season they belonged.

I understand, I should have thought of that before posting it.

busternightmares20,
That's a bit too simplistic for what I'm looking for.
RoofingGuy is correct. There are many "myths" for more than a few of them... Cola Myths, for example, have at least four different ideas that were tested. I also would like the air dates (US) and the results.
I have someone working on these currently.

Not a problem, and thanks for making an attempt... I'm just thinking of all the people who think the "Robin Hood Myth" includes telescoping composite arrows, or would see "Sparking Bullets" as "confirmed", and not realize that lead bullets do not spark, but bullets *can* be made to spark for special effects.

MicMeister_02,
No, not a co-worker, just a fan (like yourself) who volunteered for the job. That's all.

Plus there are a number of episodes where they had incidental myth that they tested while doing others. The tooth brush surprise episode is a perfect example. While doing germ cultures on the tooth brushes, Adam decided to do a quick test to see if a dog's mouth was cleaner than a human's. Over all that myth took only 3 minutes of the whole show.
There are a lot of ones like that. You almost need to watch though the whole series to see what all has been done.

Actually, the dog's mouth vs human's mouth was part of "5 Second Rule" ... but the point still holds.
