I was wondering if we can have a section for us to talk about science and science related topics that are not "really" myths. This is sort of a science show so it would be nice to have a section to talk about those sort of things.

I'm working on that, troll, I just need to find the time to get those ducks in a row. Once that board is made, I have to move all the related threads to it - and that will take TONS of time.

I see that I should probably outline the plans I'm working from in order to get this board into shape. I may do that in a few days.

Doing some good work there mythmod, thanks for the hard work you are doing.

Now we will have a place to talk about String and
M-theory.

I will help out if needed, well unless it involves any work. For some reason trolls avoid work, think it is a epigenetic thing.

The trigger words drive me nuts. I know I've made posts that contained no profanity but have never materialized in this universe or any other that I know of that contained "Trigger words"... It would be nice to have a list of the non profain ones (there are many) so that we can know what to avoid.

Otherwise I'll just stop trying to post myths to bust. Every time I try I use some strange arcane trigger word and the draconian mods just ignore any questions usually.

thanks in advance Mythmod.

how funny... I made a post asking about trigger words and got a warning that I was using trigger words. I used no profanity.

It was the sixth word in your first sentence. Began with "n" and ended with "uts."

I watched the baseball special last evening and noticed that you covered the basic pitches i.e. fastball, slider, curve. I was interested in knowing if you would consider looking into the physics and mechanics of one of the hardest pitches in baseball to follow and hit: the knuckleball?

ummmm, I didn't cover anything. I just moderate and administer the message board. That comment needs to be in Episode Discussion.

wentwood:

I suggest you read the forums. Every myth covered in last night's show is being discussed on other boards in this forum.

fudgerson:

You won't unless you recognize them. So many show ideas are suggested, and a lot of them are duplicates. They get their show ideas from a huge pool or sources. There's no way to know for sure exactly where the seed for the idea was found.

re: 08-08-07 baseball episode
I'm wondering if the sliding vs. stopping/standing at a base segment which was a "confirmed" myth, is really true. A baseball player doesn't slow down when running upright towards a base. They continue their running speed, stepping on the base, and following thru by running past the base once they've "touched" it. Their continuing practice lets them automatically judge where their foot has to be while running at top speed. So, I'm thinking that the actual difference between sliding and "standing" when touching the base probably doesn't exist. Watching this segment and "taking out" the slowing down time that happened when the runners approached the base standing up, makes up for the small difference in time compared to sliding in to the base. Does this sound reasonable? What do you think?
