Yes, the cast used to post here. They have gotten very busy. There are other things that happened that don't need to be rehashed, but suffice it to say - they do read the boards but there are only 24 hours in a day and they *do* have lives.
Can't promise anything, but I'll ask.

Just a thought, but given the problems of setting up a chatroom-idiots and lack of time-why don't you ask the Mythbusters if we could post questions on here for them to reply to when they can? That way you (or someone) can filter out the unhelpful/idiotic/insulting questions.
If they had the time they could answer the questions on camera for viewing on the web, or of course just post replies on here. The first would be a nice treat, the second more practical.
What do you think? Would that be more likely than a chatroom?
One thing I do have to say on this matter of them answering questions or comming back is. No one should be offended upset or even suprised if they don't.
One thing that is universal and can be observed all over the world over and over again is what is refered to as the "common star mistake."
Someone who is becoming famous for one reason or another attempts to keep in touch with their fans regularly outside of the thing that made them famous. For a low fame person this is possible and can lead to long lasting friendships, even business deal, but as fame grows this becomes less and less doable and more and more distressing and dangerous.
Yes I know most of us are adorable fluffy people but that doesn't mean all of us are.
Regular contact has to slow and even disappear otherwise a famous person spends more of their life in contact with 'fans' than anyone else. This is why most writers who become famous employ PR staff to reply to fan letters, because although it is only 10 minutes of your time to ask a question, it is a thousand, two thousand, thirty thousand fans, spending 10 minutes to ask something, which takes 10 minutes to answer... so you see my point.
Although we would all love to have Adam, Jamie, Grant, Tory, K-ari (sorry for the misspell) and everyone else involved in the show to pop in and give us a little time the truth is we have to accept it is unlikely and must be frustrating for both them and mythmod to have constant requests for it, not to mention slightly frustrating for us. Now while I agree one last attempt might be fun... it wont be the last attempt.
Even in the forum and filtered questions format we are looking at hundreds of questions elligible to be answered, and those that didn't get answered would get upset and bothered and wonder why others and not them and would likely lead to ill feeling.
It is the way of things that as someone becomes more and more famous the stand off distance they need to develope to lead a normal or semi normal life needs to increase. I respect the whole team no end for at the very least maintaining channels of contact with the fans as long as they did, with chats and everything else involved that they managed. And mad props to Grant for actualy popping on to point out he had a BsC in Electrical engineering.
But the likelyhood of them coming back just from a time and PR point of view isn't very high. Even if there was no risk of insults being levied against them, which unfortunatly is quite likely given the world we live in.
I have to back-up the idea of a making a chat-room in this message board. For Two simple reasons: They are many free-downloadable softwares for Mythmod(the moderator) to make the chat-room possible and plus (the moderator) could establish her/ or his rules/ regulations for the use of the chat-room. The only thing they have to do is tell us(the Fans) time/place/day of the event. And last important reason, is that is a live-chatroom (which for me its a very pausible outcome because its very simple you chat with them for an hour or two and chatroom is done.

Thats your greatest idea of post with the MB. I have to say its completely silly and ridiculous. For Starters, like galaktia mencioned in this post:

But with a chat-room you could avoid those problems, because everyone is chatting/ sharing ideas with them live.
Mythomd take notes( of this suggestion/ helpful tips) if that (rules of)chat-room could be done at any day.
• First, the moderators if they gonna have a chat-room possible in this message board, they have to make some simple rules for everyone to follow. Rule #1 :Only ask questions/ make comments about the show and such. Rule #2 : don`t post myth on the chat-room (chat-room especific reason is for the MB Fans to share a few moments with the MB only), if you try to post anything, you could be cast-out of the room. Rule 3# : If you post any sarcastic/ offensive comment at the chat-room you will be cast-out of the room. Rule 4# : Give everybody a chance to write question, or make a comment, and giving 30 second chance for the Mythbusters cast answered everybodys questions.
I would like for you (MythMod) to tell me what do you think about this suggestion, is it a good idea or a bad one?
Feel free to make your opinion, I would definitely will be reading your response/ answering it.
As for a chat room - that won't happen as someone would have to live moderate it 24/7 (or any time it's open). I run several web sites and at least two have chat rooms associated with them. We have responsible parties in the room at all times. This is not just for the off chance some goofball is going to throw a hissy fit, but for the protection of the younger participants.
You're under the impression that the average user of these boards actually read the rules/user agreement/posts. All you have to do is browse through this thread alone and notice how many people have asked about the trigger word list/moderation queue. They don't bother to read the first six posts on this thread, they're not going to read the chat room rules either.
Now... I would LOVE to be able to have the cast and crew come into a chat for the fans. My entire purpose here is to get the board into such condition that they will have the time to come back and comment occasionally. They DO have "live chats" - but they are run in a "auditorium" type room where the visitors do not have direct access to input questions into the window that the cast are in. Each question is reviewed, and then the question is given to the cast, they answer it and go on to the next question. There is no direct contact in the room. This is unfortunate. That is the only way to conduct something of this nature because of the amount of people who would be involved in the chat. Last chat they had here on the site - there were more than a few hundred watching. That kind of attendance makes it impossible for a normal conversation to occur.
We're working on SOMETHING. I just can't give details. I am keeping all these ideas for the future, though.

Mythmod makes good points, and I have to pick a few holes in your ideas Venom... as I did it to the others it is only fair.
Firstly an open chat room is not a structured enviroment as you perceive, even with a 10-20 person moderation staff on hand.
Now onto the nitty gritty, as mythmod said there will be hundreds of people turning up. I would say about 30% of these people are there to do nothing more than praise the mythbusters, 15% have questions about how the show is run, 15% have questions about specific myths, 10% have questions about myths in the works, 20% have personal but not overly inappropriate questions for the cast, and 10% are there to troll and be idiots. That is a rough guess... a very rough guess... but from my experience dealing with Fan bases (of which I have suprising experience) that tends to be the break down in general.
Now say you have 200 people in the chat, how are you going to prioritise questions? who gets first dibs? First come first served? Mod discretion? Just like posts on here the prioritising will always lead to some forms of ill feeling.
Now your rules are rediculous, no offence but if all we want to do is make comments about the show or ask show based questions then we can ask mythmod and make comments here... Mythmod answers most our show related questions with detail and speed... Even questions about cast injuries, reasons for leaving, etc.
Not posting new myth ideas in the chatroom... thats impossible to stop especially in a free form chatroom, alot will think themselves more likely to have 'their' (term used loosely) myth shown if they mention it in chat.
Rule three is understandable but hard to impilment, with perhaps as many as 30 people or 40 in a 300 person chat specificaly to cause trouble you'd need a dedicated staff of at least 5 moderators to deal with it efficiently.
Give everyone a chance to write a question or comment, again nearly impossible in chat format, and add in the limited time factor, say EVERYONE is smart enough to preprepair questions... Thats 30 seconds to type your question, 4 minutes for them to mull it over, 30 seconds to get back to you, 5 minutes a question, 12 questions an hour. say even if you do it with perfect efficiency and all 5 front crew are answering diffrent questions at once, 60 questions an hour... 200-300 people, 5 hour chat to have everyone get a chance? not gonna happen.... So how do you decide who doesn't get a chance to ask their question?
The old auditorium style chat was one of the few ways it would work and unfortunatly I think that led to a little influx of trolling by disgruntled members who didn't have their questions answered.
Now one method you could use is the method used by the writer Brian Jacques, (famous writer of redwall) you have the community leaders ask for questions... community leaders get swamped, then the community leaders filter the questions to come up with say 30-40 that are acceptable. Then the community gets to vote for their favourite 10, which get placed before the crew to be answered. The answers to a new selection of questions placed up each couple of months- half a year depending on how many questions per shot.
This is alot of work but it helps to reduce the bad feeling from it do to the reintroduction of the community into the choice process after general filtering. With the understanding filtering is done on the moderators question prefers (an annonymous question submition system is best) and none accepted questions can be resubmitted and have a chance in the next run.
The answers as well as a quick list of the questions are archived and made avaliable for viewing as and when members wish.
How is that possible Mythmod, our favorite moderator, did nothing on thanksgiving (its quite impossible to believe).
I imagine your thanksgiving (like those movies at the theaters, where they have a huge family and friends[flying from all parts of the U.S to your house] coming over for dinner), and they all share stories, and they are having lots of fun.
I hope i`m not being to bold to ask, from me to you Mythmod.
Who cooked the thanksgiving dinner ? And what part of the thanksgiving meal is your favorite?
Me too, I went to my mother`s house. We made this huge dinner, to get the family together. Since my parents are divorced, it was nice seeing them together all over again.
Sorry not to include ( I forgot) at my last post, my favorite part of the thanksgiving meal.
My super favorite, I have to say definitely its the turkey. And I also luv the cauliflower with cheese( what we do is mix different kinds of cheeses) and we put in the oven. Do you do it the same way, mixing cheeses ?
Before I forget to mencioned, We make everything at the house, except the pumpkin Pie. I dont know but my mother, has this kind of difficulty of making it, she messes up in the dough making process. Even though she stays watching martha Steward show, almost every day but it seems its too hard for her.
I would like to know your technique of making the pumpkin pie, if is not too much to ask, Mythmod.
i spent my thanks giving out side circuit city, it was worth it got a laptop GPS for my mom, an Ipod Vid for my sis and the best thing eva!!! Guitar Hero 2 (if only i had GH3 )
I have a question for anyone really, but you seem like you'd have the best chance of actualy knowing mythmod.
At a rough estimate how many jobs has Jamie actualy worked in his life? I know several people like Jamie in the respect that they seem to collect jobs, moving from one to the next for a half hundred diffrent reasons. Hopefully Jamie wont be moving on from mythbusters, but as I was asking, how many diffrent jobs has Jamie worked, just in rough estimate and number... no details required.
Depends on which topic was "yours" - I did put a topic in the ModQueue that you were posting on because of complaints by members on another member's posts on that topic... man that's kinda hard to follow LOL.
Anyway, I put a topic in the modqueue that you were posting on (you were the last person to post on it) and it's going to stay there until there is time to review someone else's post on it.

Just one last point on this. You seem to be assuming that everyone who wants to ask questions will be able to be online at the same time.
Sorry, not all of us can be. Mythbusters are basied in the USA, not all of the viewers are. If the MB cast did decide to have a chatroom at, lets say 8pm their time, that would translate as something like 4am in the UK.
I also have to agree with galaktia's comments about the number of people in a chatroom being a problem, and the number of people who would turn up for no reason other than to type rude words for their fun. I've been in chatrooms run by the BBC where there have only been 50 people in the chat at once, and frankly no one can keep up even if there are no idiots in there.
200 people in the same chatroom? Not a chance of it working.

True the differential topic was kind of chaotic. It was partially my fault. I probably shouldn't have been calling him an idiot. It just really got aggravating because: A) He mixed up torque and power. B) He really became annoying when people pointed out that fact/had no clue what he was actually referring to. C) The said fact was that he was right. If he choose his words more carefully no one would have been arguing with him. Now all I want to do is to make sure he understands his misconceptions and to help him develop an experiment to show the science behind how a differential works. I just want to know if it's gone forever or will it be back in some form.
