I recently ordered the Mythbusters seasons 3+4 sets from the Discovery store, under the assumption that all of the episodes were in anamorphic/16:9/widescreen format.

Here's the problem: some of the discs are encoded as such, some aren't. Is this an authoring error or an inconsistency in QC?

Does anyone else have this problem?

It is neither an authoring error nor is it an inconsistency with quality control. It has everything to do with the cameras that the footage was shot in.

They now use the wide screen aspect cameras. The earlier episodes were shot using the 4:3 equipment.
