Hi,
Ive been warned by friends not to turn my steering wheel toward on coming traffic when stopped at a highway turn lane, because the impact from the rear will direct you into the on coming traffic. I think this is good advice, though it seems that if one were to get hit straight on, the momentum of the impact will direct where the car ends up. Any suggestions?

When I had drivers-ed in high school 45 years ago, we were taught that. Don't know if they are still teaching it or not but it makes sense. It wouldn't take much of a hit from behind to push your car into oncoming traffic if your wheel was turned to the left.
