There should be people (unpaid) who work all over the country as Mythbuster interns. They would find locations and vehicles that the teams could use. They would also be given tasks by the "higher ups" to research topics or to be informed of what is needed
I only say this because I would want to be one.

Since the show is produced in Australia, I guess you could call that "Out of State"

So, it's produced in Australia, is it? Then when they go to locations like the Alameda Air Force Base, that's really a long, long commute, isn't it? Or the FBI rifle range.

The show is produced in Australia. It's shot in San Francisco.

What I'm saying is that they should have people in other states other than California who find locations and cars for the Mythbusters. They could also do research.
Also, I don't care if its produced in Australia. It's filmed in California and all of the people that they show are in California (mostly).

The show is produced by the Australian company Beyond Productions. It is written, produced and post-produced from Artarmon, Sydney.

I believe I saw in a previous post that Adam and Jamie insist that interns live in the San Francisco area. If true - and I'm pretty sure it is - I applaud it, because it's always better to concentrate your wealth close to home and use it for the good of the area in which you live.
So, you could move to San Francisco, and then make your case.

The researchers don't necessarily live in California. You don't have to be in the shop to do research for the show. I think one of them (who used to frequent these boards as a member) lives in Colorado(?).
As for the Bay Area thing, I believe that is only for people Jamie hires to work at M5. Not necessarily the same as a Mythtern (although probably a good first step). The few Mythterns they've had have been hired by the production crew, I believe, not by Jamie & M5. The last one, Jess, was first on the show as a contestant in the Mail Bag Special and was hired because of that (as was the researcher I mentioned).
