Hello there . DCFM, I know you're probably swamped getting started and all; however, I was hoping that you or ModIvy could create a new "Find Button Tutorial" sticky when you have the chance. The other one was useful for me when I began here, and I have to believe that it keeps the number of repeat posts somewhat lower than they otherwise would be. Thanks! Caitiekins

Caitiekins, the old Find button tutorials are not deleted, they are just no longer stickied. Thus, they are now located many pages back in each section, being sorted by the date they were originally posted. There is presumably a reason why they are no longer easily locatable.

I have to second Caitekins' question, will our already stickied references stay stickied??
I understand that you will want to put your own version of modding into play, but important things like that need to stay around so that we can refer junior members (and errant senior members) to them.

If the reference threads that the senior members worked so hard on do end up getting removed, I know that will be a last straw for alot of senior members. Myself included.
Over the years I have put over 100 hours of work into my reference thread, including using my education and educating myself on things I knew nothing about, hunting down citations and references, and battling my poor english so it could be understood. Few people use it, but the amount of views show it does indeed get used. If that gets unstickied I'm gone, even if it does sound like me being a bit petulant about it. But that is alot of work designed to try and educate people and answer questions and removal of it is rather disrespectful to myself, just as removal of the other well writen references is rather disrespectful to the other seniors who spent the huge time and effort to creat them.

I've noticed that all of the "9/11 topics are inappropriate for the Mythbuster Forums"* stickies are gone as well.
I'm sorry but any forum that encourages the Conspiracy nuts to post their BS about how 9/11 was a government job/cover up is not a forum I'd want to participate in. I personally know of people who were affected by this tragedy. (A former classmate's husband was one of the firefighters killed that day). Many of my coworkers went down to help with the clean up and I may have seen one of the planes as it followed the Hudson River down to the city. (Can't verify of course but the location and timing were right)
I was right, the inmates have taken over the asylum.
I'm thisclose to being gone.
*not sure what the exact titles of the threads were

They weren't last night when I was posting... the 9/11 and the "Youtube Challenge" stickies still remained. I guess the 9/11 one got "missed" in the unstickying of topics.

DCFM, to save some confusion, do you prefer to be refered to as 'he' or 'she'?

The informational stickies will return soon. They are just being edited and updated for continuity and clarity, no disrespect ever intended to previous moderators.
We appreciate your patience. DCFM

I don't think anyone was implying that there was disrespect intended to previous moderators.
It just seems as if it would make more sense to leave the informational stickies in place until their replacements are ready. But maybe that's just me.

How come it doesn't say under your name that you're a mod and not a member?

If you don't mind my asking DCFM, what about MM's stickies requires editing?
I can see removing her name from them (although she might still appreciate credit) but other than that I don't see what needed changing.
Also, are you some sort of androgynous collection of staff? Or are you one person that we can refer to as 'he' or 'she' as freebirde asks?

Okay, that made me laugh. You may refer to me as She, Her or DCFM if you prefer. Continuity is the reason for some changes and also stickies are often edited or moved periodically so they are better seen and remembered.

DCFM, when you fix the "Find" button please make it in such large type (at least half of each page) that even third graders can read it. I think the latest double, triple or whatever post was today about Jonah swallowing a whale (something like that, anyway). Just think of how much space Eve could save on the HDDs if all the double posts were not cached there.

Dear DCFM,
I was wondering, what is your position on the consistant and non-stop Wanted: Curving Bullet posts? Are you going to be allowed to clean them up? There's just so many of them, and many of the regular Senior Members of the MB Board are tired of them.
If you could do something about this situation, that would be great!
Thanks, Caitekins

Hello Caitekins,
At this point we will not curtail the discussion of this topic. As always we encourage new members to use the "Find" button to locate existing topics and to post in the appropriate forums.

Really? May I ask why, please? I don't want to be obnoxious; I am just curious.

Caitekins, it goes back to the answer Mythmod gave a while back. New posters have the right to post. They are encouraged to use "Find" and post in the appropriate place, but can not be forced to.
I won't editorialize beyond that.
And DCFM, apologies if it was out of place to answer. I just realize that you can't be around 24/7 to answer questions, and had made a habit in the past of answering questions that I knew the answer to, from seeing it answered before.

I am almost sorry to ask you this question. But when do you think that Disco will learn that this board is actually a great resource that can greatly improve the quality and quantity of those that watch their channel? By actually allowing the moderators to moderate the boards, they cut down on idiotic posts to the board, and at the same time, keep long term members. I say this because since I joined, I have seen several thousand quality posters leave this board. Those several thousand posters hit the site several dozen times per day, or several thousand times a year. All the while contributing to raising the quality of the programs. Do you smell what I am stepping in? One thing I have learned in my thirty some years on this rock called Earth, encouraging does not really do anything unless you apply consequences. AKA requiring. Please do not allow this board that so many have grown to enjoy degenerate into idiocy. Yeah the fight may cost you your mod status. But it is a small price to pay.

Need to remember that Disco is looking at the bottom line - the more numbers the better. A post is a post whether it is in the appropriate thread or out there on it's own. The best we, as a group of regulars, can do is ignore the repeats - they will quickly fall off the first few pages and not cause any problem. If you see a post you don't want to read, don't read it. If you want to direct all new 'curving bullets' to the proper thread, then do that - just remember you reply will kick the post back to the top of the first page and it will take just a bit longer to disappear into history.
