I've always wondered if my idea would destroy even temporarily a tornado or at least turn it from its path (say away from a town). The idea is that if you launched a big enough rocket into the tornado and blew it up would it disrupt the tight spiraling wind to a point that it would thwart the tornado's path? If not has it ever been tried before?
Thanks, Shawn

I wondered that as well, but wouldn't the strength of the winds in say an F4 or F5 just alter the course of the rocket or destroy it all together from contact with said winds or pieces of debris? Anyway this is my opinion there's a very good chance that I'm wrong.

Rockets no, but cloud seeding and other tactics have been considered. The question is, if govenments attempted to alter the path of weather systems artificially and a giant tornado or hurricane hit town B instead of what would have been it's original target, who is then responsible. Force majeure would take on a new meaning.

A man named Colgate (yes, like the toothpaste, he's related to them in some way) Tried Launching missles at tornadoes. He got close, but one never ended up hitting one. Besides, I'm thinking the wind would change it's direction, or deflect it.

I believe scout's laptop is attached to a piece of wood, that is screwed into the dash, with velcro.

Attempting to destroy tornadoes is pretty much a non-issue - the results of the attempt could be far worse than what would have happened originally. And weather is only part of the larger atmospheric system - what ever we mess up down here will come back to bite us later.

yeah that's the way to do it. TIV's is done differently and works noticeably not as well.

Personally, I believe it would be a lot easier to use technology to create tornadoes, rather than destroy them.. Meteorologists know much more about what it takes to make a tornado, than what it takes to stop one.. Centripetal force is very strong, especially in phenomena as such. I don't think mother nature is something to mess with... I'm not trying to bash ya sfielding, im a junior member too!! Just my 2 cents!

Considering the $$$ damage of them each Spring, there HAS to be a way to knock them out enough so they don't cause damage. We have enough missile technology to figure it out, so let's do it...
Something like using dopler radar and then focusing a cluster charge that explodes at 1000-2000 feet (synced with second by second rader image) within a dangerous cell.
Another idea would be certain types of Lasers or highly focused Radar that dissipates or alters the energy of the water molecules.
We now have enough computing and radar horsepower to solve this age old problem.

I am just wondering if there are any F6 tornadoes. Or if it can be like a hypercane.

no. there arent. the ratings only go up to five, and just so you know, we dont use the fujuta scale anymore. We use the enhanced fujuta sacle which is EF, then the number.
