I'll start off by saying that I am not a meteorologist nor am I going to school for it. However, if passion and love for the storm were enough, I would be the most qualified storm chaser in America.
I grew up in the heart of tornado alley, just south of the Red River. I was never able to focus on the normal things kids grew up becoming interested in. My heart was always in the late spring. Late spring did not mean baseball for me but rather baseball sized hail.
For ten years I traveled the West and Midwest, always searching for the awesome super cell to catch in my heart's mit. Though I have only viewed a few tornados, I've seen too much of the destruction they left behind from Texas to Minnesota, from Alabama to Colorado. It is true that seeing a tornado is the greatest triumph. Yet, I derive just as much pleasure, respect, and awe from the grand shows that squaw lines, super cells, micro bursts, and even the most random summer lightning show. I love severe weather to the extreme certain mountain climbers prefer Mount Everest over a hike in Central Park.
I live in Maine now. In this state I have been starved for even the lightest thundershowers are rare.
My DREAM is to tour all the beauty and power of tornado alley's terrible storms-and if super lucky, to find a tornado producing super cell. I know it would be simple for me to join one of the tour groups that latch onto some storm chasers. But, I fear their fascination is limited to curiosity and to the twister alone. My love expands and feasts on any weather that produces anything from lightning, to low dark clouds, to the salty green hail clouds, to the magnificent violence of a storm's wind.
Please consider me when choosing teammates for your storm journeys in 2008.
Though I cannot offer in return the facts, grafts, and numbers that embeds a true meteorologist, I have always hailed a unique and primitive instinct for finding severe weather. I was born and raised in the low dusty section of our country where the eerie wails of furious winds, where storm clouds could turn day into night, broken only by near and brilliant lightning. Again, I spent many more years staking these storms on my own.
I wish to return. I am almost desperate to join one of you next season.
I am confident that some may read this post and think me crazy. But I am also confident that this passion and love for the storm is shared by a brave few. I hope that one of you may respond.
Thank you!

Greetings, my name is Alex and I am a student meteorologist that has an extreme interest in extreme weather. I have spent the bulk of my time over the years studying severe weather including but not limited to tornadoes, lightning and hail. I must tell you that I do not live anywhere near Tornado Alley at the moment but as soon as I am able to, I will surely be moving there. You may be surprised about how much I know about this stuff considering that I have never gone on a chase before, but there is still much I need to learn. At the moment I'd be willing to be a nowcaster to help you out in your chase, but I assume that you don't need that help. Doing this will help me learn a lot more and it is the next best thing that I can do instead of actually being there. You may contact me at <mr.weather2448@yahoo.com>

Like Maine-Texan I have no formal training or classes. However, I have always been fascinated with storms. I have lived most of my life in Indiana and was in the big break out of '74. I havew always wanted to chase and learn more of how the storms work. If your willing to have students/spectators I would love to be a part. I am willing to learn what ever skill you may need me to take hold of. I know from watching the many chasers out there a steady and brave/crazy camera operator is one of the most valuable tools for the chaser to document the visible events as they unfold and to help document the tragedy and damage. Hope to hear from you soon as it is already that time of year and I think you may already be out there.

you are asking for pay?
that is saddening.
I am a minor, and know that you would not hire minors, but i am a registered storm spotter and freelance chaser. I am currently in high school, planning to go to school at the university of Kansas or in Norman, to be a field meteorologist. I have a great love for severe weather, like nobody I have ever met. As spring rolled around, my mind was on nothing but the sky, and year round it stayed the same.
I have had famous moments, where children would play soccer, i would be with them, but would stop randomly, looking to the sky and say "Wow look at that! Looks like some cumulonimbus Incus.... there must be hail in that..... daddy let's chase it." Of course my father would bury himself in shame, that his 5 year old son would pay more attention to Pelius than Soccer. I currently reside in New York state near the capital Albany, where severe weather is a rare occurrence, But my heart is in the great plains.
I can honestly say that from age 3 all i watched on TV was the weather channel NOVA and National Geographic, my favorite movies on the VCR were not Barney, Pokemon, or Mickey mouse, but rather Twister, fury on the plains, and Jim Leonard's masterpieces.
I always new that i Loved weather until one faitful day it became an obsession. on may 31, 1998 a large F-3 F-4 tornado struck my home town of Mechanicville and stillwater NY. I remember the green skies, and watching a perfect tube drop out of a striation filled Meso, and the Tennisball sized hail that followed.. on that day a few people died, and many lost all they had, and somehow this made my love into an obsession.
I have seen a few well known tornadoes out in the Midwest where I chase with my father, such as Mulvane, Manchester, and the Parent supercell of the Greensburg tornado.
Hail and tornadoes is what I live for, along with photography, making me a perfect partner for a chase team.
