The weather.com Interactive Map and the program GRLevel3?
I have GRLevel3 but from an amateur's standpoint, I enjoy using the Interactive Map on weather.com.
I guess the main reason I'm asking is I would like to one day go out to tornado alley and rent a car and go chasing with myself and maybe a friend or 2 and from what I can tell about weather.com, it seems like that would be easier than pulling up GRLevel3 and waiting on animations to load and such when they're available immediately with the weather.com map.
Thanks in advance for any answers!

I like GRLevel3 better because it shows maps other than the standard radar, such as velocity images and VIL maps. It also shows storm track and other information such as hail size / mesos and TVS signatures. Plus i find it easier to use as a standalone program other than on a web page. I use the GPS overlay as well to keep my position relative to the storm. In addition you can download road packages, so you know what roads are available.. or which ones you need to take to run away. lol.

i was thinking that the main difference would be the GPS function and how convenient that is... I know the new Google Earth includes a weather layer so I wonder how useful that would be if you're chasing... in any event... one of these days, i'm gonna get out there and chase. It's been my dream for YEARS. I live in southeast Georgia and we don't get that many tornadoes down here. I've never even had the pleasure of seeing a tornado before. I literally DREAM about it all the time... my family thinks i'm crazy, lol. What I do think is crazy though is if I were to spend $2,000 to go out there with a big group of folks and be stuck riding around in a van all day when i can just have some computer software and do it myself, heh. i know that's stupid to the experienced chaser but right now with money the way it is, that seems a more affordable route... anyway, thanks for the info. I appreciate it so much

the blakester you could do that but you would be like the blind man in the mine field. You mite get more the you were wanting. or you would spend weeks waiting on something just to have it deslove. I can't do the 2,000.00 ether, nor would i like a big group. Having a back ground in climatology help me a little not much. winter semester I'm taking a refresher course in meteorological maps and computer programing. And even then I'm going to be a crap shoot. I also have the hole season to play around. I'm from Kentucky when we get a tornado it stays a while. Once in the valley it has no place to go. i was in the 1973 tornado that hit here and stayed on the ground for more the 50 miles something unheard of in tornadoes in ks. There were debates as too weather it was one or many.
