Okay, so I have recently become interested in storm chasing, but I have been reading up on it and it turns out it doesn't make a very good career, maybe more of a hobby. Does anybody have any suggestions on jobs that could possibly coordinate with actually chasing storms? Maybe something that pays well so I could keep up with the expenses of the chase? Any suggestion would be great. Also, I am only 16 so I have a few years until I go to college so think big. Thanks, Michelle

Pretty much every job in the "storm chasing" field is freelance. For 99 percent of the chasers out there, it is strictly a hobby. The only people I know of that are able to live off of it are those who run tour groups or have amassed enough stock footage and photographs to live off of royalties. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but there literally are no jobs out there right now that pay well enough for you to live comfortably based solely on storm chasing.

Well my plan is i am joining the air force as a weathermen for 6 years so i will make enough to be able to put a considerable amount of money away each month. I am going to pay off my truck and put away money for rent. But after i get out i am going to join the reserves so only one weekend a month do i have to go to work. to pay for storm chasing costs i am probably going to get a couple of seasonal jobs during christmas time so i will be able to put around 7g dollars to pay for gas and hotels. Thats my plan
