I think it all depends on the dog and the person. I have a smaller dog and when I take her for walks in cold weather I dress her up. But dressing a dog up every single day seems a bit ridiculous. And I don't think the boots are for anything but show. But I don't know anyone who dresses their dog up on a daily basis.

I have two little dogs, a 7 and 9 pounder, and I dress them up occasionally. They have a rather large selection of both boy and girl clothes.

I dress them up for special events, for fun occasionally, and for keeping them warm on very cold days.

I don't see a problem with it as long as its not uncomfortable or hurting the dog.

IMO, problems come with dressing dogs when people are spending too much time holding the dogs, pushing them around in strollers, not training or socializing them, and the dogs personality and psyche starts to morph into something bad because of it.

I'm not a person who is a 100% against the humanizing of dogs, but it's also a slippery slope once you get on it.

I have no problem with dressing up dogs for special occasions or silly fun every now and then as long as the owner realises that the majority of the time the clothes are only a benefit to themselves.

What I hate is people who constantly have clothes on their dogs as if they re dolls for their amusement or a child that needs to be dressed and changed daily.

badkittyamy, I agree. I HATE it when people dress up their dogs every day and treat them like dolls. HAve you ever wonderd wuts running through a dogs mind?

I think its ok when people dress up their dogs on specail occasions (or when its cold) as long as its not hurting the dog.

Personally the only "clothing" I've put on my dogs have been bandana's, a bell at X-mas etc. So mostly I accessorize. If I was going to be here for St. Patty's I'd have dyed my white dog green LOL

I think its okay if the dog is small and its cold outside but if its hott enough for the dog to stand then i dont think they should be dressed. and larger dog then i dont think that they should be dressed
But that is MY opinion Smile

what i dont like is when people spend hundrands of $ on cloths for thier dog and have an outfit for every day of the week i think the most outfits u should have for your small or short-haired dog is 1 or 2
But again thats my opinion
