Yep.
The list:

German Shepherds
Rottweilers
Doberman Pinchsers(sp?)
Akitas
Pitt Bulls
Australian Shepherds

BSL stands for Breed-specific legislation. You can get more information by typing in BSL on YouTube or another video player, typing in breed-specific legislation in Google, Yahoo, or whatever server you have, or going to the official website.

Well, basically, that's what it is. These people are trying to annihilate certain breeds because of irresponsible owners. They think they are "dangerous".
Go here to get it in its most base state. Although the video does not mention BSL specifically, it's the same principle.

Thats so mean! You can not kill off certain breeds because some dog owners take on too much responsibility and because some of the dogs are aggressive! I happen to know that my nana has had 2 akitas and both were complete sweethearts! all they need is the proper training Frown

I also have met several german shepherds who were big babies, dobermans who were the most affectionate dogs and australian shepherds who lived on attention and love!

hi, this is a highly debated topic and there is a lot of info on the web to see. For the most part dogs on the BSL are dangerous because they have been trained to be that way, and most dogs regardless of breed will be friendly if they are well cared for, and socialized by responsible owners. This is true in most cases, but unfortunately dogs bred specifically for the purpose of dog fighting or to be a "guard dog" have been line bred for certain traits including aggression and tolerance for pain. This is how well meaning people adopt a cute pitt bull puppy that could years later turn out to be dangerous, even to its owner. Breed ban laws are not fair , but a (more the most part unsuccessful) way of fighting those cruel people that breed animals for fighting.

-rolls eyes- BSl has proven to do NOTHING for dogs of any breed. Dog fighting is already illegal passing another law only effects people who are already obeying the law.

Please do more research on BSl because it has NEVER been effective anywhere it has been passed. Pitbulls are illegal in miami dade which is STILL Florida's hotspot for pitbull fighting.

Also you are highly misguided on fighting dogs. If fighting dogs are so unstable then how exactly do they get adopted out after being used for fighting?

Michael Vick's dogs were adopted out, top winners in the ring, many are now service dogs.

Dog aggression has NO correlation to human aggression.

So it's nice and pretty to say BSL saves dogs but it does not. It keeps good dogs out of responsible owner's hands and in the hands of the criminals, lot of good that does the breed.

A high tolerance for pain is a good thing and is why before the media started running around like idiots the pitbull was considered the nanny breed as due to their high tolerance kids could pull their ears and stick a finger up their bum and they'd do nothing

I have such a major objection to BSL. I have a mini doxie, Casey, who goes to Doggie Day care and her best friend was Emma, a gorgeous Pit Bull. Emma was 3 or 4 x's bigger than Casey, but would lay on the floor and let Casey lick her face and her lips (weird thing Casey likes to do). Emma, the pit bull, could have killed Casey with one bite, but instead she just put up with Casey antics. I don't understand the whole BSL thing when the majority of us know that more often than not when a dog goes bad, it's the owner's fault, so why aren't they being held accountable.

This makes me mad...thats why i wish i could start up a aggressive correction center to rehubilitate agressive dogs into loveing housepets and rescue pitts from dog fighting and rehubilitate them so they can live a normal dog-life again. its sad. Frown
