The Animal Personality Institute (API) at the University of Texas is currently conducting a study to develop the Dog Personality Questionnaire (DPQ), a questionnaire-based tool for assessing personality in dogs.

We need at least 1,800 dog owners to complete the DPQ so that we can improve and further develop it. We appreciate each and every dog owner who takes the time to complete the questionnaire. It is currently available online, and takes about 20 minutes to complete. When dog owners fill out the online DPQ, they will immediately receive information about how their dog has scored on each of the personality traits assessed in the DPQ, and they will be entered into a drawing for a free gift certificate as a token of our appreciation.

If you would like rate your dog on the DPQ or to learn more about this new questionnaire, please visit the DPQ Homepage at http://survey.psy.utexas.edu/API/dpq.php where you can find links to the DPQ Information page and the DPQ Updates page. To learn more about the Animal Personality Institute at the University of Texas at Austin, go to the Animal Personality Institute Homepage at www.animalpersonality.org.

If you know any other dog owners who might be interested in filling out the DPQ, please forward this message on to them.

Thank you!

Amanda

That's a neat survey. It told me that sometimes my dog can act: fearful, dominant, and excitable when around other people or things. But I already knew that. Smile It DID tell me however, that she is about 57% trainable and smart. Smile Maybe I can re-train the brain. Smile

Very interesting. Like the others said, it only told me what I already knew about my girls.

I liked your survey, though a lot of questions were repeated in the 1-102 survey (may have been a reason for it though I dunno). Also It never specified if the dog was aggressive around unfamiliar cats or familiar cats. My husky will chase a stray in a heart beat but gets along fine with my 7 year old cat Twister.

I agree, there should be specific questions for how the acts with housemates and strange animals. the questions were too vague sometimes.
