I just adopted a mutt from the humane society. We named him Bandit. He is 8 weeks old. The worker said one of the parents was a German Shepard. She also thinks he is part Shar-pei becasue of his small ears and he has wrinkles on his neck. I don't know what he is, if anyone has any idea what he could be that would be great. <a href="http://s202.photobucket.com/albums/aa120/kicks_lol/?action=view¤t=100_0726.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa120/kicks_lol/100_0726.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s202.photobucket.com/albums/aa120/kicks_lol/?action=view¤t=100_0732.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa120/kicks_lol/100_0732.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s202.photobucket.com/albums/aa120/kicks_lol/?action=view¤t=100_0737.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa120/kicks_lol/100_0737.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> thank you again
Offhand I would say he looks like he has some lab in him. But as noted with puppies it is very hard to tell since bone structure and ears change as they grow.
You just have to say that you love him as he is and that it really does not matter what he is or what he becomes.
Oshwyn5 its just fun to try and guess what breed you mutt is, OF COURSE she will love him ^^ and besides, then you can answer people when they ask what breed(s) you cute puppy is.
And also, as Angeeleeta said, it can be hard to tell what breed your pup is when it is a pup. They change a lot as they grow.
I had this problem too. My mutt looked like 3 different mixed breeds. There is a dna test given by the akc. $40 they give a kit to swab his cheek then mail it too them and they will tell you the results.
My friend had two dogs and both of us had no clue what type of dogs they were. We knew they were mutts and offhand, one was a rottweiler (sp?) lab mix, the other a German Shepard/rottweiler mix. We looked through breed books, all while the dogs were near us, and narrowed it down to like five breeds. That's an easy way and fun way to do it, but if you want to know the exact breeds, I would go with 3dknight4's suggestion.
Thank you for adopting, first off, congrats!! What a cuttie! Looks like Lab/Pit. I train APBT'S & the bone structure caught my eye. Either way, Bandit has a good home!!
