Here's a great reason why:

And one more very educational and sad video about puppy mills, pet stores, stray dogs and the millions that die every year.

They are tough videos to watch... but sometime it takes a shock value that high to make people want to make a difference.

I adopted my dog from a local animal shelter last summer. She has by far been the best dog I've ever owned - so playful, loyal, obedient, intelligent, good guard dog, good companion, and absolutely gorgeous! Adopting is the best way to go - you can save a life and gain a wonderful pet and companion; and in my experience, it's so much more rewarding. It makes for a tighter bond.

For my dog, we pretty much saved her life. She was the runt of the litter, not playful, unsocialized, and basically a dog no one else would absolutley jump at the chance to have. But we took her home, and now I wouldn't give her up for the world, she has come around and is the ideal family pet, not to mention a gorgeous dog! Not that I'm trying to brag or anything! Smile

You know that not all shelters kill the animals. The animal shelters where I live got tired of peopler fighting them to stop putting the animals to sleep, so they are all strick no kill shelters. But I havce a soft spot for strays. all of my cats, four, and my dogs, two, I picked up off the street. They are the best pets I could have ever wanted.

That's exactly how I adopted Katie! She was also the runt of her litter and her previous owner was either going to 1) give her away to someone else or 2) dump her off on the streets so she could hunt for herself. Frown He wasn't the best owner for dogs, but I saved Katie's life. Now I wouldn't give anything for her..even if she can sometimes be a nuissance and digs constantly in the backyard. Roll Eyes

So I guess I'm probably classified as a "bad girl" because I didn't adopt my dogs, right?

Thank you Angeeleeta--those were so hard to watch, but I'm glad I did. All I can say is, EVERYBODY, SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS! Then ask yourself, how has this world gone so wrong? And what can I do to make even a little bit better?

You're not a "bad girl".

There are reasons why people whould want to buy a purebred dog. However, most people don't buy purebreds for the right reasons.

I believe this has been pointed out to you a few times and you shouldn't get so personally offended by posts like these.

This post was mearly a shock value way to show people the horrors that "unwanted" animals go through. Not every dog or cat is lucky enough to have a loving human to care for it and defend it's well being.

90% of people who want a pet can find one at a shelter or rescue. There is no reason for backyard breeders, puppy mills, etc. to exist.

Those videos are so sad!!! Has anyone seen the one where Charlize Theron is talking about puppy mills? It actually shows some of the horrible conditions these dogs live in, and it is just about the saddest thing I have ever seen.
