Papillion or something else

And what do you think about the actual dog? Actual Papillion or mix? His ears do not do up all the way but they have been going up more and more (so they might still go up). But there are papillions who ears do not go up and they are called something else. By the way, the other puppy is mine lol (tri-colour rough collie).

Please give me your thoughts. Thanks!

My best friend was looking for a dog for a while. I knew she didnt have a lot of money to spend and she did not find any dog she wanted at any of our local shelters or humane societies. So we started searching breeders. She still didnt find any she liked. She found an add for 'purebred' papillion puppies that were 480.00. I was thinking there was no way that they were purebred. She called them and they said that the 'breeder' said that she was just trying to get rid of them for her friend who was a breeder but had a death in the family. I was a little suspicious. We went to go see these puppies and the parents were not there and there were no adult dogs at all. There was also a little bishon frise pup. The lady seemed nice enough and my friend fell in love with the little pup and took him home. I know that this was not a breeder but i do not think she was a BYB either...? I am very against this kind of thing. I like going through reputable breeders ONLY.

that was a BYB sorry no reputable breeder just ditches dogs because something happened in the family. A fellow breeder had a STROKE and her dogs are all right there and she is getting right back in the show ring.

A reputable breeder does not advertise in the paper PERIOD, neither would they allow a "friend" to place their pups. A reputable breeder would have had homes for a minimum of 5 before ever being bred in the first place and both parents would be OFA tested and titled in the ring.

That pup is either very poorly bred or mixed.
THIS is the checklist for a proper breeder anything less is a BYB

and a pap puppy should look like this

biiiig difference
480 for a mystery pup with no health testing on the parents? I cringe at the thought.

badkittyamy, i totally agree with you. It was not my idea to get this particular dog. I tried to convince her to go through a reputable breeder but she got this pup instead. I am VERY against BYBs. Thank you for your thoughts Smile
