Is your aunt a breed registry? No.

Show me their breed standard and what actual and noteable organization recognizes them as a breed, and then maybe we can talk about their status as being a legitimate breed and not a mutt.

Actually angeeleeta is right. She is not a crazy dog lady and it is very rude of you to say this. Golden-doodles are "designer breeds". This title of designer breeds was given by people who are out looking to make money and saw an opportunity by making a mutt look more appealing. Breeds are meant to be understood as PURE breeds. Yes pure breeds come from mixing of other breeds blah blah blah. But until they are recognized by a number of dog associations such as AKC and are given specific breed standards in appearance and temperament then a godlen-doodle is not a breed.

Also the whole "google it" thing is a bit absurd. You cannot trust everything on the internet. Anybody can set up a website calling a golden-doodle a "breed"

a goldendoodle is not a breed 5 generations of a dog must 'breed true' i.e. all puppies have the same conformation. before it can even be looked at as being considered a breed. no direct line mix can be a 'breed' because if you breed a poodle to a golden retriever it will be different almost every time. i.e. no conformation.

50 miles isn't far to get to a shelter. My next dog i will be driving 5 hours to pick up one way

Why, yes I am!

Crazy Dog Lady Land is the name of my future dog buisness.

A few of my friends refer to me by this too.

I obviously know more about dog breeds then you. I'm still waiting to see that breed standard and registry from you.

THERE IS A DIFERENCE!!!!! DOGS IN A REGISTRY ARE CALLED "REGINIZED" (know i spelled that wrong) BREEDS!!!! JUST CUZ IT IS NOT IN THE DOG BOOKS DOES NOT MEAN IT IS NOT A BREED!!!! A BREED IS A TYPE OF DOG THAT THERE IS A NUMBER OF!!!! A GOLDEN DOODLE IS A BREED!!!! Mad

So all of my mutts are breeds then? My Spitzoodle, Jackarainian and Pitbullbull are all "designer" breeds cause I said so?

I gave them a cute name and I saw one so it must be real!!!

Newsflash:

A breed standard and registry is what defines a breed. Without that, the breed doens't exist. Sorry to burst your bubble but it's a MUTT.

Here's a dictionary term for you:

Breed: Genetics. a relatively homogenous group of animals within a species, developed and maintained by humans.

Homgenous: Biology. corresponding in structure because of a common origin.

again not a breed or else shelter dogs would be breeds as well. they aren't, they're mutts thank you case closed. I've seen a poodle/golden too it's called a mutt. Like my border collie pointer is a mutt, it is not a breed. Again a breed has to be able to breed true which I already explained.

No one is suggesting that you have never seen a golden-doodle.

If you want to call a golden-doodle a breed then every other mixed mutt can be called a breed. My Shepherd Collie mix can be considered a breed. Hmmm lets try make up a cutesy name for it Roll Eyes

You really need to understand the definition of a breed before going around and calling any mutt that people pay way to much for a breed.

We're all experts on dog breeds here except obviously for you. A goldendoole, or a schnoodle, or a chuggle...ect. they are all crossbreeds not worth paying money for!! Get thee to a shelter. They always have a fresh and new supply of poogles, or dach-huas, or maltepugs...ect. ect. ect.

She made a simple mistake in mixing your name up with the other. No need to get mad. I almost made the same mistake earlier

Wow, this is getting a bit ridiculous. A goldendoodle is a MIXED BREED, which, if you take the words apart, means it is a mix of one or more PURE BREEDS. I don't think anyone is denying that they exist, and in fact I've even seen a Choodle (A chow poodle mix; very cute actually). I'm pretty sure everyone here also believes that your aunt has a goldendoodle. The only difference of opinion is what the word breed means.

As given by Wikipedia, "A dog breed is a group of dogs that have very similar or nearly identical characteristics of appearance or behavior or, usually, both, primarily because they come from a select set of ancestors who had the same characteristics."

So you see, breed is a very selective term, so as long as you call the goldendoodle a mixed breed, not just a breed, everyone can just go back to not arguing about definitions.

i would look at a shelter if you want a mixed breed dog like a 'golden doodle' buying one only supports byb's which is bad, very bad. research each breed, see what their energy levels are. Do you have the time to walk and play with all these dogs etc. What health problems are prevailant in each breed? Can you find a reputable breeder that's not a puppy mill and the people show their dogs closer than the local shelter?
