This is our first time "having puppies". Our American Eskimo had six. We are worried about the runt. They are a little over two weeks old, all but the runt has their eyes open. His looks are quite different. He has a huge bubble forehead and his eyes are so set in. We are worried he might not have any,he might be blind. I'm hoping he's just behind, since he is smaller. Any experiences with this anyone? Thanks!

My eskies are mini and standard, but the standard is only a couple lbs different from my mini. And no pics yet. They are sooo cute though! Little white bundles.
for many years, the runt was killed. Either by the mother, or by the owner of the dog. People just didn't think they'd do well and they ended their lives as a mercy gesture of sorts, but now things have changed and so have attitudes, practices and understandings.
Some times the run t is the most desirable of the litter. My sister got the runt of Sugar's litter and she's incredibly please with her "half the size of mine" puppy. Copper looks about what you describe your runt to be like.
The runt could turn out to be the best of the litter, I've heard stories similar. However I would get her a health check just to be sure, because sometimes the runts don't make it. If elsewise she seems to be progressing fine, than I wouldn't worry about it
yea i agree with galaxygoddess maybe the runt is good, because mainly all of my pets are the runts of the litter like my baby boy mosca was the runt of 10 and lala and chica are the runts of the litters to
An abnormally large head doesn't sound good at all. Sounds to me like your puppy might have hydroencephalitis, or fluid on the brain. It creates pressure inside the skull and on the brain. Affected puppies will typically have large domed heads, and be poor thrivers. I'd suggest a visit to your vet to get the little guy checked out.
Like I said,2lbs. difference. By the way, update on runt- took him to the vet,he was born without eyes and he did have hydrocephalus. He died yesterday.
Awwe I'm so sorry! Sometimes thing just happen that way. I hope the other puppies are happy and healthy and I hope you find good homes for them ^=^ Best of luck!
I'm so sorry that your little pup had problems and has passed away. That's always the sad part about breeding, we lose one once in awhile. I bred Welsh Terriers for awhile and became attached to each one. Always sad to see them go. Wish I could have investigated each and every home. Second litter I had to give one of them to the lady who owned the stud and it died a couple of weeks later because she failed to tell me that one of her other dogs had parviro. How stupid was that? It had it's first vaccine, but the direct contact with a sick dog did her in. I was really upset and never used her services again. I drove three days, about 6 hours each day to use a different stud for the third litter. Afterwards decided to get out of it and had my female spaded. I think she was happier for it too.
