Ok...im in quite the pickle here. I am wanting to figure out my career and get everything arranged for my college. BUT, I don't know what I want to do. I want something with animals and im stuck deciding between two things: Veterinary or Pet Boarding. What would the cost be for me to start up my own pet boarding kennel? and what college would i have to do? and in the vet category i don;t know if i can handle all the sugeries and stuff that goes along with it....sombody give me advice...i really dont want to spend 8 years of my life in veterinary college away from my dog Foxy Frown help!

There is no college to go to for pet boarding it's a service you would have to start up on your own and no degree would cover the service.

Vet training is a long and tedious process, you have to be a 4.0 student and you have to be able to take a scalpel and be willing to cut open an animal.

Why do you want to be a vet specifically?
Do you think you could take the pressure of an emergency situation?
What about dealing with the pet owner's?
Also keep in mind the possibility of the animal dying in your care, it will happen eventually and a lot of people who want to be vets don't think about the emotional barrier you have to put up.

Keep in mind you have to deal with everything from dogs to someone's pet turtle.

yeah I know there is no degree for pet boarding but I'd probably go into only pre-vet or veterinary technitian so i can have that as some-what of a background.

Im probaly gonna back out of the whole veterianry thing, because like i said earlier, I don't think i can handle all that. The whole process of going into Verterinary for 8 years is too long and I don't think i can go through that whole process.

i'm glad you have been thinking hard about this and i wish you luck in your ventures. have you thought about dog training?

It's one animal specific but they DO have colleges to learn proper dog training techniques and the experience is something that could help with understanding dogs if you choose to run a boarding facility.

Something else that is important is looking up courses as a dog behaviourist.

Pet boarding is when you charge a fee to watch people's animals when they go out of town etc.

I really don't know what i want to do but i dont think veterinary is for me because 8 years and alot of classes. I just think that's be too much for me. I went to a boarding kennel neer where i live that our dogs go to when we are gone and i just visited for the day ad worked there. I really liked what all they did and it kinda sparked an intrest in me so i might just go for that and ill take pet grooming classes one summer most likely.

The Doggie Day Care/Dog Boarding facility my dogs go to is staffed by Vet Tech's. I'm not sure how long you have to go to school to become a Vet Tech, but have you thought about that as a possiblity. I also think it would be good for you to really sit down with someone who runs a boarding facility and see what all that entails. I know I wouldn't take my dogs to a facility where the people were untrained in what to look for with a dogs health and behavior.

Nice is in south France near Monaco. It pernounced niece. It was warm for March lol. Paris was pretty nice as well. I went with my school on a march break trip to a bunch of places in Italy and France. I have also been to Mexico, Jamica, Dominican Republic, Florida, New York, Nova Scotia, Grand Turk (carribean), Grand Caymen (carribean). Oh and also Wales and England when I was a baby so I dont remember lol. I think I might be going to Mexico again in Febuary for a vacation lol.

Parents seperated? Mine are too lol. It sucks that you cant bring your animals though Frown Maybe you father will let you have a pet in France. That would be neat! They love dogs in France lol.

Ewww I hate french. Its manditory to take it in GR. 9 but I dropped it after that. I took italian in Gr 10 and this year as well. Its easier to me.

What does your dad do? Like france is far to move. Are you going to be living there forever now?
